I attended a rock festival, because that's so not me

This weekend I lost my rock festival virginity. I've never been to a rock concert before, and Highfield is close to where I live, so I thought, why not go there and see a couple of bands?

Impressive experience, although I wish I was there some years earlier, when the lineup has been better. I'm still glad I used the chance. This was the last time Highfield was held at that location. Some farmer complained, that nothing would grow on the field anymore, where the camping site is during the fest.

On thing less on my 43 things list.

I hope it's ok to post it here, as there was not just concerts, but also whatever stuff like buying overpriced food, hanging around with your friends on a camping site and drinking beer while getting a sunburn. (although... well... to be honest, I chose not to stay over night, as I prefer my house with my bed and my clean bathroom with tiles. I also didn't overdo the beer consumption, so that I was sober again when I sat behind the wheel - I told it was close to where I live )

Although I like, but Rock is not my first musical genre. As a good radio DJ, my first musical genre that I listen on my car and at home is pop - electronic.

Oh dear, I feel so embarrassed right now. I didn't had a camera with me and I only have an oldfashioned mobile phone that cannot take pictures.

But you know what the bands in the line-up look like. And the location and such - and if not, ask Google or YouTube. Sorry. But I don't think I would have been able to take good pictures anyway. On the third day, when Die Toten Hosen played (live so much greater than on the radio), I wasn't very close to the stage. I was the day before, when Farin Urlaub, The Offspring and Faith No More where on - but people where poging a lot and jumping in every direction like crazy. So I was busy watching, listening and not falling.

Thanks for posting, Sam... good to hear you're having fun but I agree with Stealthy, got to camp although I now do miss my own bed haha.
At one of the first festival's I went to I (and I do repeat this to amuse my daughter) I just about passed out when Meatloaf got on stage (yes, it was a long time ago) not because of the excitement but the cider.

During the wild jumping and poging one girl landed in my arms as she was about to fall on her back. I caught her and touched her side at the height where her boobs are, (she held her arms up) but I apologized quickly and said I didn't want to molest her. She was cool with that. This is how far the boob feeling went. All in all most people where cool. Like when I was pushed and kinda gave the push on to the next guy, I often apologized. One guy was like "Hey, we're on a rock concert, that (the pushing) is normal".

There was a crane with a gondula called "Jägermeister Hochsitz". (Before I describe the darn contraption just look at that picture.) In order to get on there, one had to send a MMS with a photo to some number "0170 subscriptiontrap" or something like that. From these the winners where chosen that could go onto the "Jägermeister Hochsitz". The pictures where shown on the video walls between the bands. One picture featured a girl pulling up her shirt revealing her boobs.

Was there any E going around?

What's E? E guitars? Yeah - many Gibsons. Now that you mention it, I cannot recall one Fender Stratocaster. They had Telecasters, Precision Basses, but no Strats. Or is E that another slang for ecstasy? I don't know as I don't do drugs, but with 25000 people there, it's likely some did - but I guess only very few. Even though I'm no expert on that field I'd say cannabis is more popular than ecstasy. The prevalent drug however was alcohol in form of beer (lots of it), followed by (tobacco) cigarettes.

I know. Told you, I'm little like the rock fan stereotype. I need my morning shower and I hate crapping on a mobile toilet - some people sh*t everywhere but into the hole and leave you with the choice between some nasty infectious disease / asphyxiation and constipation. ...and to be honest I feared rioters. It was ok over the three days, but in the last night of Highfield it's not uncommon, if mobile toilets and even tents go up in flames. And I think that totally sucks. Why do some as*holes think the only way to party is destroying the property of others? Even though these people are only a minority, it still sucks.

What are the other 42 things left? List them!

Don't say you didn't ask for it. Actually 43things is the name of the site. I'm down from 17 to 16. You can also see the 14 previous goals. If you spot any orthographical mistakes - I didn't write one goal title myself, only hooked up on the goals of others.

See I was more responsible with the alcohol. I drank around noon, when there were no bands that I wanted to see and when I could sit in a camping chair with my friends. Most conversations could be better enjoyed after two cans of beer. (no glass bottles allowed).

You need to go to more concerts, Monsieur pussycat! In fields and in venues. Chat it up with some of the blokes, buy a girl a drink, you'll soon have a group of people to "kick back" and have something in common to do. You dont necessarily need to get pissed to have fun, I usually drink have only 1 or 2 beers, no more than after if I drove.

Not sure if your venues work the same, but venues in Hollywood their shows start at 8 or 9pm, have drinks by then. Typically 3 bands play so drinks by the first band and that's it. They close up at 1:45am, there's always some 24 diner to go to, have your food and by that time you're alright. But its always best to take a cab.

Otherwise, just have fun and in couple of hours later you're set to go home... or take her home. Holding back her hair as she vomits in the toilet, so romantic..

Just once when my friends from an old job hired a stripper for me. I was quitting and it was my going away party.

Thieves caught at Highfield festival

Hohenfelden. During a traffic control police found 2400 Euros, several wallets (another source says 80), mobile phones and the removed SIM cards in a Peugeot with British number plates. Some of the wallets had been reported as stolen by visitors of the Highfield festival. The occupants of the car, which are Romanian citizens, had been temporarily arrested. During a search of their hotel room another 200 wallets, 5000 Euros and further mobile phones had been found.

I always took care that no one could take my wallet and phone unnoticed.

I forgot to say I almost hugged a girl, respectively three. But I was to shy. During the first day the girls had been walking through the camping site with signs that read "free hugs". Of course I feared being turned down and didn't ask for a hug. You might say the chances of rejection are pretty low under the given circumstances. That might be true, but it also means rejection would be more humiliating.

Where is the highfield I've never heard of it. It say on your profile that you live in thuringia, where goethe dreamed of ancient greece. How far is it to berlin. I think it's worth a few hours to go to berlin for music. You live near leipzig and bach, schumann, wagner, mendelssohn. Where is the highfield I've never heard of it.

It's a smaller festival (25000 visitors), not as big as Rock im Park or Rock am Ring with 70000, resp. 85000 visitors. The name stems from the village Hohenfelden near the festival area. However next year it's forced to move. They don't have a new location yet, but it's probably going to be near Leipzig.
