Fanhost slow?

Is it just me or is culture, sports and tech forums always been so slow? has anyone other than teenhollywood got an idea of the actual traffic figures for now and in the past? I say other than as I doubt he will post here.

By slow, do you mean a lack of threads/posts or slow in updating a page? The latter should be noticeable regardless of the thread.

FH needs an overhaul of mods, et cetera... the ones now are rather incompetent (not an insult).

the site has reached the stage of restaurants which are empty on a sat night. The fun of forums like this was too innocent maybe? From a time when people first discovered internet, and writing messages was exciting. Now it’s like lookbook.nu without clothes, youtube without videos, ebay without shopping. Writing is probably better fun to do on word & just save it for your hard drive ?
But it’s strange because other message places, like www.thestudentroom.co.uk/forums have the opposite problem. It became too popular - everything you write instantly gets buried under thousands of other messages

moshe, that boards layout is not only hip and cool, but the design of the message board. cool and interesting forums, added by different tabs to navigate to more interesting stuff like an articles section, revision notes, etc, far surpass that of FH.

FH has the resources to spice up the place and make it more cool but the lack of administration help, inept moderators, makes it less than par. so yeah... i actually suggested FH revamp its site somewhere in the bottom forum. a new admin team is needed.

FH has stood still while the internet has changed dramatically; facebook, blogging, twitter etc have all taken over from all but the specialist forums plus the new owners have a different agenda from those who set up FH originally.

what is this agenda? the internet has changed, thus FH needs to change... like i keep saying over and over again, FH can become a bit more hip and keep its board steady with the internet and social networks. the admins agenda is to let it stay like it is because... the members keep the site updated!

most forums/boards are able to stay afloat all year round with jumps in posts and steady posts, but never a dramatic decrease in posts... these forums cater to the wants of its members, and somethings the members haven't even thought of. the admins of FH have kept the same skin since we switched to VB... nothing is new, although they could make it something new.

That's how it might seem except thestudentroom was thousands of times less popular a few years ago. It has about a million members too many now? Every student wants an anonymous message board, demand's probably higher than ever &, who knows, centuries from now people of the future will still need places like this, where you can secretly bottle post-it stickers and throw them into the electric ocean.

The message board is fine, it's the fan stuff that went out of style. Fanhost stopped catching traffic around the time britney started to flash photographers. Even little kids have lost interest in the stalinist celeb/object worship that originally channeled people here (JLH's breasts in I still know what you did last summer). & if, for example, someone really believed that the headbands that some celeb makes, eg. mischa barton, are worth $200 each, they could post that on her official site, where, at least in-between headband making/psychotic episodes, she might actually read you

i didn't know mischa barton was doing bad now? lol at possible ways to make ends meet. should've went to college for marketing... anyway, i agree with you on celeb worship dying. now, social networking is on the rise. i think it will be leading in 2010-20... it is surely popular... video social networking will be even more popular in a few years as well as forums where people would like to remain anonymous like you mentioned.

fh needs to change but how when even the admin's aren't doing jackshit and the moderators have to take up the slack?

I remember the old times!
Were the times that I made more or less 50 - 60 posts per day.

And you Spin ... you, Kate, Fixr, Samson, Eros, SilverSpoon, TrineX, Winter and the old members joined before me!!!
In your time things were busier than when I joined.

Fanhot was not the same since that days.

But I don't complain. Do you know why? Because, as the good members are gone, today we have marvelous members again as Flute, Missy, Ophelia, Aloha and so on.
