Feedback Please

I did something a little different in my last blog post. It required a lot more work then I typically put into it. I was wondering if anyone here could give a little feedback...negative or positive is fine. Just wondering if I should do more projects like this or stick to the same old same old...

Why are you continuing a blog that no one reads nor comments on? I went through some of your posts and didn't see one comment. You put time and effort into just posting a blog but are advertising to the wrong crowd of people as no one here is interested.

Try going after a new group of people.

But to comment on the blog at hand, I didn't see the purpose in featuring people singing a whole new world as that song is one of the worst songs in the history of music. Where did it even originate? Some crappy shack with two homeless children singing it on the street as they beg for money to fill their starving bellies because their tramp of a mother and wimp of a father abandoned them? It sounds more like back alley cats yelping for food and fighting each other.

The girl sounds like some typical American Idol singer in that she really can't sing as her notes and tempos are disastrously horrid and the soft whisper like tones she takes make my ears bleed.

The guy well you can pull anything off if you sing in a soft-undertone, but he obviously failed to do that.

Why didn't you just keep it about dance music?

The blog has never been just about dance music. Music & dance on the internet is the general theme, most of the material originates online.

I don't have many visitors...about 25-50 a day I would guess. The reason I do it though is because it's something I enjoy.

I've had a couple people like the band LFO, Mike Lombardo, etc... comment on my blog or contact me on Twitter/MySpace/YouTube due to a post I made. Doesn't happen often, but once in awhile. It also gives me an "IN" whenever I decide I want to do a project for fun myself. If I need a song written about something I've got a couple people who could help me out now, because they know I'm a fan of their work or have been kind to them in the past. I've had a number of tracks people wrote for me for free, although I've paid for a couple as well.

In the end it's just fun for me. I'd like a bigger following, but if I keep just a dozen followers for the next 20 years it would probably be fine with me. I don't mind changing things up a little, but the theme will probably never change unless the topic no longer interests me.

Good luck with your blog. I don't get blogging though, is it some type of addiction? Like when you start you can never stop? I've read other interesting blogs of people detailing their lives on the internet. There was one funny blog where some guy was visiting the local beach and saw a bum under a blanket peeking at them. Long story short, I was laughing for 5 minutes after reading that blog post. I wish I didn't forget the link as it was just funny.

In any case, keep your hobby going as we all need something to escape the insane world and dedicate ourselves to something that lifts us up.

Sort of I guess. I guess it's just a way of being part of the online community for me. Rather then just viewing or rating things, it's a way for me to create content (good or bad) & a place in which people with similar interests can find me. I get messages from people on Twitter or MySpace once in awhile, but it's usually because of something they saw on my blog...not from randomly coming across me on MySpace, Facebook or Twitter. Once you start, you sort of feel a responsibility to continue. Which is odd considering hardly anyone reads it. As long as it's a fun responsibility I don't have a problem with it.

By the way, my blog just helped me hire a really cheap animator for a BIG project I'm working on. So there are benefits...

I can't speak for Spin, but I primarily blog to entertain myself. If anyone else gets anything from it, well. It doesn't really matter to me. I don't even have a way to work out how many people visit. I assume someone's looking at it.

I just write down anything that goes through my head. I also use it to give some messy ideas a decent shape.

The most recent entries have been on: a Photoshopped image that turns out not to be shopped at all; biking to work; fake words; a review of The Death of a Salesman delivered over the telephone at 4 a.m.; calling bullshit on chakras; etc.

Of course it's all banal bullshit, but as I said I do it to entertain myself, and no one's making anyone read it. If you don't like it, then don't look at it. If you don't understand why anyone would do it - well why does anyone do anything?

I think we're similar in that we get enjoyment from it. I attempt to do things others would like, but in the end it has to be something I like.
