Well things have really changed since the ole days(we haven't even had a nostalgia post in a while!). But arguably these are the most "moderate' times in Fanhost history that I can remember, arguments barely escalate beyond 4 pages, there aren't as many civil wars as there were before, people aren't trying to one up one another, acting like baffoons making inflammatory posts and moderators don't take their jobs as if they were playing Justice League. Back in the day the permanent ban was the heavy hammer, giving the cold shoulder to deprive attention wasn't really an option.

At the end of the day this is what's left. Sure you aren't going to get overwhelmed by the depth and breadth of information presented here. You aren't going to spend long nights poring through page after page of well-structured debate in dozens of different threads encompassing hundreds of viewpoints but then again those kinda dynamics would leave other members detached from all of it, as though you were reading a scientific journal.

I guess part of the reason I stick around is the thought of the theatre of the absurd comming back... Then again maybe not. HAHAHHAH.

Well, for one thing, your public profile page tells everyone your join date. Just click on your own username or avatar.

You created yourself on August 12, 2002.

For another, there is a memberlist with a sort function that sorts by "oldest" poster. Take the time; it's interesting reading.

From what I can see, the oldest poster whose join date is not computer-set at "1/1/1970" appears to be Kiwi. The board creator, Will, is nearly the same "age". The pertinent page, sorting by joined date from oldest to newest is this one.

Also, if it interests you, I'm currently (as of this post) the 129th most prolific poster, with 445 posts, leaving me only 28,671 posts until I tie you, Andrew, as #1, with everyone else remaining static, of course. Since when, however, did a forum remain static? I don't think anybody's going to be catching you.

I often get validated by victimists telling me i'm smarter than them via PM's and others that threaten to hit me via the internetz. There's a bit of a difference between dissent and humor and being a negatively contributing distraction.

We need some kind of "penalty box" that will let us chill some people out without leaving the sword of permanent excommunication hanging over everyone's head.

Started when fifteen, maybe just turned sixteen, and now I'm really old (well into my twenties). I must have forgotten about visiting here for a year, and every few months maybe. But always nice to come back, internet nostalgia and just being able to write stuff.

But I think a penalty box is an excellent idea . I could wear my NJ Devil gear.
We could assign offenses, like
Illegal hit.
