A SOUTH Australian father and daughter have revealed they are a couple, and have had a child together.
John and Jenny Deaves reunited 30 years after Mr Deaves separated from Jenny's mother.

Jenny was 31 and just two weeks after meeting, father and daughter had sex.

"John and I are in this relationship as consenting adults," Mrs Deaves told the Nine Network's 60 Minutes tonight.

"We are just asking for a little bit of respect and understanding."

Their nine-month-old daughter Celeste, shown on TV, appears fit and healthy.

Mrs Deaves said soon after reuniting with her father she began to see him as a man first and her father second.

"I was looking at him, sort of going, oh, he's not too bad," she said.

"Like you might look at a man across the bar at a nightclub."

Mrs Deaves brought two children, Samantha and Alex, into the relationship after splitting from her former partner.

Mr Deaves admitted that he "initially" thought having sex with his daughter was wrong.

"Emotions take over, as people no doubt realise, there are times during your life where emotions do rule the heart, it rules the head," he said.

"I knew it was illegal, of course I knew it was illegal but you know, so what."

Mrs Deaves said the physical relationship with her father was like "a sexual relationship with any other man".

For Mr Deaves the sexual relationship was "absolutely fantastic".

A South Australian police media spokesman said "the couple is being monitored".

The vast majority of people doesn't feel sexual attraction towards famaily members. I think it has to do with knowing each other since childhood. Almost any incest case in the media is about people who have been separated as kids or at keast that have not seen each other in several years.

And she has a point. We allow gay people to do private stuff in their privacy (rightly so), so why do incestous couples get all this flak? They don't impose their lifestyle on others.

Ok, the whole thing with the higher risk that children are born disabled makes a point. That was dumb of the couple. Good, they had been lucky. They should have used contraception. That's what they could be reproached for, not there mere having sex thing.

Agreed but this isn't such a case. He was a father before, he had those responsibilities and should have considered how this would affect his children.

There are relative save ways of contraception. Should people be prohibited to have sex, if they cannot guarantee that this might lead to pregnancy? About the other thing, if they had used contraception, they wouldn't have to worry about that. Also, unfavorable circumstances on childhood can occur anywhere.

Samson refuses to consider the mental torment inflicted on a child. Yes, bad things happen but this could have easily been avoided. It was a selfish act on the part of that couple... people need to consider others.

Ya know. Ted Bundy's mom got pregnant as a teenager and her parents were so ashamed that they told everyone that Ted was theirs. So Ted grew up with the lie that his grandparents were his parents and that his mother was his sister.

Ted had some anger issues with women later on in his life.

I understand Samson's point of view, he's talked about this subject on a number of occasions and I'm all for live and let live but sex between parent and an adult child is different. There are boundaries that can be crossed and protecting the child (even when they're a consenting adult) is paramount. An adult has control and power, however it's used and having sex with your children is an abuse of that responsibility... in my opinion.

John Earnest Deaves and his daughter Jennifer Anne Deaves are at the centre of an incest scandal in South Australia over their seven-year relationship.

The pair revealed their relationship on Channel 9's 60 Minutes program last night, saying they were just asking for some respect and understanding.

In March this year, they were placed on three-year good behaviour bonds after pleading guilty to two counts of incest.
