Default NJ underwater subway

Tourism by television. I was watching CSI New York and they had shots of an artificial reef made from old train carriages. I looked it up and there really is a pile of train carriages at the bottom of the river, 400 of them in total.

It creates an artificial reef. Sea critters attach themself to the surface, like in the 3rd photo, and it becomes a natural ecosystem. Reefs and the associated life it brings help keep the river healthy.

Whoa I didn't know it would help the river. So that's good thing that they did that then.

Yes it's a good thing, or at least seems like a worthwhile experiment that is working out.

Looks there was a lot of controversy about it using asbestos as a bit of a fear mongering. It's the asbestos fibres and dust that are dangerous. Not a lot of dust happening under water.
