Well I got together with some friends to play flag football this past Sunday at a local park. It was about 40 degrees, muddy, a little rain, and I didn't have cleats on. After about 1 hour of playing my knee gave out when I slipped trying to avoid running into someone. I knew I pulled my hamstring before I even hit the ground, and I thought that's all it was. However when the screaming pain in my hammy finally started to go away late that night I noticed most of the pain was just behind the knee, and some just under the knee cap. Felt just like the last time I torn my ACL and torn my miniscus. If the if the pain doesn't get better in a couple more days I'll have to go get an MRI, and a possible 4th surgery could be very possible. It would be the 4th in 5 years. All my free time is spent online or playing sports.... Sports is really my way of releasing stress. I don't know how much more my knee can take, so this could be really bad for me. |

Maybe more, depending on how bad it is. It sucks because I set a goal of winning every YMCA basketball league in the area, and I only had 1 more to win. I won at East Bulter County, Fairfield & Labonan. Springboro starts in 2 weeks, and is the only 1 I haven't won. I also already paid for it, and got a team together. |

Coaching would be fun I guess, but I like the contact in sports. I like battling in the paint for boards, or trying to knock a blitzing LB on his butt. That's how I get rid of stress, and golf just adds stress. It's fun, but that darn ball is evil I tell you. :D It could just be a bad sprain or mild tear, so it's a waiting game for a few days at least. Last edited by Spin Teacher : 12-05-2007 at 09:03 AM. |

I swung and my knee cap popped out, the stress the swing put on my knee did it, and the entire knee came apart I feel for you Spin. Those knee injuries hurt like nothing else, truly searing pain. My Doctor advised against surgery and told me I had to tighten down the ligaments and the best way was by riding an exercise bike. It has done the job so far and you might want to look into it Spin. Does this mean we won't have your basketball challenge in the sports forum this year? Last edited by Ox : 12-05-2007 at 10:32 AM. |

The toes on my foot ended up facing nearly the wrong way, cause without the kneecap in place and the way it stretched the ligaments when it dislocated, there was only skin and some muscle left to hold the two parts of my leg together. I slid my kneecap back into place with the help of a girl who twisted and held my lower leg in place....I can still hear that bowling ball sound... Last edited by Ox : 12-05-2007 at 02:38 PM. |

Basketball and football are two of the worst sports for ACL injuries, but I'm guessing you know that already. 4 lots of surgery, you are persistent at trying, that's likely to catch up with you when you get older you know? |

It wasn't the tee off that did it, tho I did do it while teeing off. I've had problems with that knee since high school, then the day of the accident and the day before, I weight lifted with friends, both days doing sets of leg presses where I would balance the weight bar on my shoulders and bend my knees, nearly touching my rear to the floor....not smart, esp two days in a row....doc said I wore out the muscles and strained the ligaments causing my knee to give out when i teed off....it happened on the 15th hole. The closest road with access to me was at the top of a hill with a steep drop off and the paramedics had a difficult time getting me out of there. |

Then the doctor explained ligament damage is actually worse than a break. The bone will grow back and heal good as new. The ligament doesn't grow back, it's always a substitute, artificial or from another part of the body, so it doesn't heal like new. |
