Great to see how people are doing and so on.. ...in the UK as of my year we had no 10 year get together. Even if we did it's great to see what others who may not have turned up are up to. Lot of marriages, kids and bald heads (and christ they're still fairly young). |

| il dolce far niente ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yeah I used to love facebook, it's so useful, but also quite orwellian-sinister, and the best stalking tool yet created. At my new college this year I had to delete my account since they look down on it as unprofessional if you want to get some teaching work as a post-grad (and I still didn't get any!). Which is so hypocritical since half our professors have accounts! THe most hilarious thing is at oxford where they now hand out £150 fines if they find a photo of you misbehaving on it. You can imagine the team of desperate post-graduates they must hire, trawling through the photos day and night. Last edited by Moshe.. : 11-28-2007 at 06:14 PM. |

| il dolce far niente ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm a cambridge boy nowadays. Was once at oxford as an undergrad. Oxford is quite glamorous, whereas cambridge is just the land of the geek. My god just don't be seduced by the beauty of stephen hawkings as i so foolishly was, less than 3% of women in my college look that good. BUt yeah they definitely hire someone to search up on your account, and soon employers will do likewise, especially if they're something like the government intelligence services, and they probably print off your whole photo album too, and who can guess at the sinister possibilities - for all we know the lonely and frustrated office women of MI5 are using your likeness for their personal relief as we speak. Have you been on holiday here yet? we have a lot of nice buildings and culture, and there is even a scotch community who will gladly take you out on the town, in case you're feeling homesick, just like the old country! - a traditional night of deep fried mars bar and glass bottling of the local gays. |

| Love Will Tear Us Apart.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I dunnot really get "facebook". I have a friend in UK who used to be a myspace-freak (like me ), but he said because facebook is now more popular in UK, he has an account there and is BARELY on myspace, but more on facebook now. I saw that he has more than 100 'friends' now on his list, on myspace he didn't have even the half of it. Well, if he's more happy now... ![]() I have also a facebook-account, but I never, never use it. I prefer myspace. ![]() Last edited by Mónica : 11-29-2007 at 06:07 PM. |

They do monitor these things now at days. My sister is still in high school, and like most of them, she has a myspace. The school she goes to and the city police actually monitor it for threats about the school and drug use and such. They keep an eye out for upcoming fights and alert parents about stuff posted on the mysplaces. |

BTW - congrats on getting to Cambridge. Quote:
When looking over a friends profile I look at the peoples names who he knows on the off chance of seeing someone I recognise. Also, I think Facebook is generally more secure than Myspace. I might be wrong but so far I can only really search by email, can't really find people from the past when I didn't get theirs. Need to hope other people have them added in their profile. Still hunting on some guys I hung out with ![]() I deleted my Myspace page.....seemed like Myspace has a younger age group generaly. Quote:
