| Banned by Stuper Mods ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Not doing much good keeping it illegal, millions of wasted pounds/dollars. Can anyone give me one good reason why it should still be kept criminal? Please remember the legal status of alchohol and Nicotine. Alchohol causes 80% of A and E related problems of weekends, possibly more. Will that be made worse by legalising smoke-o or should we be logical and dissalow both? |

A toleration of cannabis sell and use (like in the Netherlands) would thwart the demoand for illegal supply and therefore harm drug syndicates. With laws remaing that prohibit driving under the influence of THC, respecively restrict smoking in public places, a legalization would hardly be advertisement for the drug. Anyway I often hear the arguments about whether smoking doobies is less dangerous than smoking cigarettes or not. One says that THC, other than nicotine, itself is not carcinogenic and that the typical weed smoker smokes fewer times than the average cigarette smoker. Another one poinst out that cannabis smokers usually don't use filters and inhale more tar (carcinogenic) than they would do, if they smoked a cigarette instead. Either way smoking is bad for the health. If cannabis should be legalized here, I'll still won't use it - just as I don't smoke cigarettes.

My biggest issue is that Pot is a gateway drug. Start smoking the spleefs and you soon realize that not only are you NOT gonna die like your mommy and daddy and teachers warned you, but your actually having a pretty good time. Laughing, eating doritos...watching the nature channel for 10 hours at a time...Hmm....maybe I should try acid, and then x, and then cocaine, roofies, crack, meth, oxy, lions and tigers and bears oh my! Don't look now but omfg - I'm a big druggie loser, I don't really remember my name but I think it might be Ray. If all the other drugs went away and you could just legalize marijuana, I'd say go for it, but it leads to much more drug usage and other illegal activites. Prices would drop and doctors could supply junkies with what they need. Then , no crime. Though I have a hard time agreeing with legalising the likes of Meth and especialy, Heroin. I'd agree with a similar policy to the Dutch to first see how it played out. Quote:
Seriously! ![]() Bud, I don't think any kind of these drugs are safe I just want to have them rated and legalised or criminalised on objective grounding. There is no chance adictive and killer drugs like nicotine and alcohol would pass the FDA . I don't know about the FDA but as far as I've heard it Alcohol and smokes causes more current damage than all drugs combined. It is sick that people still perpetuate this mith of some drugs being worse than those that aparently have sent people to a slow death - Lung cancer tends to receive little research funds even though taxes on smoking cover all ailments afflicted by smoking.

| Saddam Disney ![]() | Beer is probably the biggest gateway drug. We all do drugs.......it's just some are acceptable. Whether it's prescription drugs or sucking down caffeine.....But with caffeine it keeps us awake and going so we can all be so called productive citizens in a society that profits off be aware and being awake to work and make a profit. And we all know how profitable prescription drugs are. Hw many people out there are hopped up on them? There's a hell of a lot. Levi's we actually made from hemp at one point. One acre actually make something like four times more paper than an acre of trees........and guess what?.......You can grow it much more easily......It was Dupont, the lumber industry. and tobacco that got it banned. Even if you don't like it being used as a drug it has so many uses. Last edited by Osama McDonald : 11-27-2007 at 05:29 PM. |

I don't agree, I think you have to start somewhere and pot is usually the first thing you try. I agree, its pretty benign on its own, but where there is pot, there is acid, x, coke... I don't see how beer is a gateway drug. Last edited by Ophelia : 11-27-2007 at 05:37 PM.

I think we still have to always emphasise that in itself cannabis can be a very very very dangerous drug for certain types of people. The gateway thing is far less important than that fact. BUt if we're sane enough to begin with, it's perfectly safe yeah. Quote:

Kidding. Well, not really. I do enjoy a bit of codeine here, a bit of vicodin there, but the most I've had was after a surgery. Though in Dec 2005 a friend of mine gave me one of her codeine pills before our portfolio presentations, the jitters and nervousness went away. But I don't go out scoring for more, I have booze. ![]() It almost always starts with booze or cigs. At the furthest parts of the high school track & field where there's a bunch of tree coverage. How campus police never knew about those spots, I'll never know. My cig phase lasted one semester, then never again. I have/had friends who are/used to be smokers. I would ask for one and slip it next to my ear like a bad boy and when they'd leave I would dispose of it. Did this so many times they caught on eventually. From what I've seen I don't find pot to be so addictive that there comes a point where you need to upgrade to something bigger and stronger like heroine. Anyone can be a pot smoker and you wouldn't be able to tell who they are. Lawyers, professors, doctors, school teachers, your kids soccer coach, your little girl's ballet instructor, your own grandpa, even clergy. Some just need an edge off. A nice cup of Sherry, or red wine, a cup of whiskey or a great bottle of Russian vodka. Sure hits the spot. No reason for me to try pot but I will, eventually. But I don't believe its a gateway to stronger kind like x, heroine or coke. Don't hardcore drug addicts do it to escape reality? I would think pot wouldn't help you escape, but more help you relax or slow down. Last edited by Avis Phlox : 11-27-2007 at 07:30 PM.

I suppose in large doses, the main thing is how it can change your thought-patterns to a small extent. It makes you a little dizzy and slower like alcohol. But the interesting thing is how the barrier between your unconscious and conscious becomes just a touch more porous. You can understand art more quickly. Cannabis is a good idea before going to the galleries. If you're with friends, the conversation can get weird and jumpy, with laughing about bizarre jokes nobody would understand. You definitely become less articulate (just like u do when you haven't slept). SOmetimes once you start laughing, you can't stop, like with hiccups. You listen to music more carefully. And you taste food much more carefully (eating becomes so fun!). You really want to hug people. HUgging people is an obsession. But if you're on your own, you become more introverted and introspective. Thiis is probably why it is so bad for people with underlying mental problems. Sometimes you get very inspired. When I used to do it as an undergrad, I could stay up all night writing essays. My friend used to stay up writing hilarious plays (he is an amazing playwrite). WHen you really really over-dose (which only happens if you eat a lot of it), you can get closed-eye-visuals (just like fire-works when you close your eyes). BUt nothing more is possible. It's not a drug you take to cheer yourself up. If that's what you want, then powder coke is moderately effective.

| il dolce far niente ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'll warn teenagers just in case that one can get slightly paralysed if you do too much. If you overdose enough for closed-eye fireworks, you'll be paralysed at the same time. Absolutely harmless. Also maybe don't get in an argument because stuff like that can seem a little bit more melodramatic. And that's all! Last edited by Moshe.. : 11-27-2007 at 09:47 PM. |

| I never saw pot as being something to get stupid with. That's just irresponsible. Most of the pot smokers I know are in high professions. Some are working 12 hours a day, some are teaching at college and universities and working in their labs. They enjoy a little pot to unwind. They're not after "the munchies".
