| Question aimed to those outside the U.S. Here we worship celebs like demigods. We give them stuff for free even though they can afford it all. We follow them around with cameras almost everywhere they go. Their face gives them instant access to exclusive clubs, and fans go nuts and ask for photos and autographs. Does this also happen where you are? UK, India, Asia, Germany, Norway, etc. I don't see [in my head] the Brits doing this, but I might be wrong. |

| il dolce far niente ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | England is a much more culturally diverse country than america. The english you're thinking about live in the jane austen country house. But the country house was built on the back of a huge class of people who went on to develop a totally different culture, and one much more susceptible to deleterious american influences. |

| Bloomin' crazy ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The tabloid(s)/websites/newspapers here mostly write about celebrities from the US and the whole Hollywood "scene". Truth is, when a country has a population of 4.6 million people there just aren't that many "celebrities", so they tend to write about TV show hosts, millionaires, washed-up reality TV contestants and other people who are generally richer than everyone else. They never get followed around, and Norwegians are usually too shy to ever talk to them on the street. The actors here are usually very private and uninteresting people (at least to the tabloids), so they're hardly ever mentioned. We do have a monarchy though, and they do love to dish about the royals. I don't think we have paparazzi at all. If we do they mostly take pictures of the royal family. As far as I know, the only pictures that are posted in the magazines are photography sessions the "celebrities" themselves have agreed (and get cash) to take part in. So no hiding in the bushes. I wouldn't say people here generally don't care about celebrities, they just don't care about the Norwegian "celebrities". |

You mean you don't read The Sun?...the breast newspaper in the world! Why is it whenever i hear Norway i think first of that Beatles song Norwegian Wood? Last edited by Ox : 11-27-2007 at 01:03 AM. |
