Friend's apt smells like cat pee

No joke, folks. It's disgusting.

She's gotten rid of the cat months ago because she's recently given birth to a baby boy. But her place stinks, literally.

I'm not a pet owner, and never really owned a cat, but some of you do. Can they not smell it? I don't think it's healthy for the baby, either. Should I say something about it?

Well, if it's THAT bad...
but yeah, sometimes people having cats don't notice. I've known some people over the years who should get better kitty litter. That's usually the case. Or if the cat peed in some corner of the apartment.
With the cat gone though... she should have cleaned all the cat-stuff away, yeah?

I'd tell her. It's only awkward for a little while.

She needs to paint the walls with Bin Zinsser Shellac based primer. Its a vapor barrier. Than have the furniture and rugs prof. cleaned. an was window with a vinegar based cleaner and blinds also.

I would tell her. It isn't healthy for the baby. If she's been walking around in the smell for a while she may have become immune to it.

Umm..yeah, I don't know if I would just tell her or hint around it...

My roomys cat in college never smelled at all. I hate pet odor, dog smell is yucky. My cat spends the majority of the day outside so she rarely uses the litter box so it doesn't smell. I had a friend in HS who had like 5 cats and her room smelled like ripe azz. I think it was a mixture of male cat spray and pee. *blehgh*

Must have been a male cat. She needs to just use major air freshner for a few months, and possibly clean. I happened to be at work on a Sunday afternoon and ran into the cleaning woman. SHE smells like cat piss, in fact when I talk about her I call her cat piss now.

A co-worker of mine took a 2 week vacation to Disneyland a few years back, but he needed someone to check in on his father a couple times a day while he was gone. His father was handicapped, in poor health, an owned 3 cats. When I first went to the home I couldn't beleive how nasty the place was. It smelled, stuff was litered about the house, and I didn't even want to touch anything. One day I brought the guy some McD's, and sat down on the couch to eat & keep him company for awhile. When I sat down I could see the dust, dirt & cat hair fly up in the air. I couldn't even take one bite of my food.

I know all cat owners aren't like that, but for anyone who has a pet inside please realize you need to clean more so then the average joe.

I dissagree with cats kept inside. Last one I had was out all the time, up till about 23 when she got scared and went home to Bell Air.
