Do the ends justify the means?

I don't even know where to start with this. It depends on the situation, the end, the means. If the end is completely selfish and you've lied and manipulated everyone in your path to get there then probably it doesn't. If you've told a white lie to protect someone from going out looking like a fool, then the means, the lie, probably wasn't a bad thing.

So its a matter of degree. A little bit of corruption is ok but a lot is not?

I think it depends. If it's something really important, like protecting a loved one or something, then there's really no limit to what I'd do.

But if it's something like screwing a friend or co-worker over just to make myself look good, then no, it doesn't.

And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower which the children of men builded. And the LORD said, "Behold, the are one people, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do. Everything they now wish to do won't be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so that they may not understand one another's speech."

So the LORD scattered them abroad from there upon the face of all the earth: and they stopped building the city.

Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
