Difficult question, isn't it? Perhaps your mom learnt how to cook with your granpma and now she can cook better than her. BUT ... When my grandma was alive, she gave me delicious foods as a present and when I was eating she said: Mangia, mangia che te fa bene! ... it's Italian. What about you? |

My grandmother is a good cook also, but lately she stopped using any ingredient that was bad for you, which is oil, fat, and salt. She makes good soups. They used to cook together for sunday dinner, a meal that would sometimes take from noon time till dinner to prepare. Last edited by open32 : 05-20-2007 at 03:03 AM. |

Mother was a fairly good cook but she made this vegetable soup which she though was good for us but which was very greasy. On the other hand, she made very tasty chili and hasenpfeffer (stewed, marinated rabbit). |

My mom is not a very good cook, but she did her best and I love her chocolate cake. I would rather cook the meal myself. I learned to cook from my friends mom, who still sends me cajun cookbooks now and then, and from my Italian college roomate whose family is from Sicily. I'm pretty sure they were mafia related. Therefore I can't share any of those family recipes, or I will get shot. |
