Dig through the world. To Riz: I realise that it's not possible to dig to the other side of the world because when you got there it would no longer be the other side of the world it would be the side of the world you are on but since the world is round there are no sides so the expression dig to the other side of the world is totally inappropriate from the world's perspective and is only a human interpretation. To Kitty: I know that we have barely scratched the surface of digging depth and that if someone was to reach the core they would probably be vaporised in a hot molten lava and therefore be unlikely to complete the dig out the other side. To Spoony: See those problems with the molten lava and digging tools? Super hero tools and inventions would be most welcome in explaining how this dig can be achieved. To Angel (and his many other names): Yes it sounds like an awful lot of work to do such a dig and I'm sure some form of laziness would kick in so feel free to explain a less energetic activity you'd like to do instead. ;) |

Pretty neat idea, Blackmask. Sure beats the ecology fiasco. BTW, you get wet also (middle of the Atlantic) which isn't all that surprizing since the earth is 5/6 water, isn't it? Jacasta = South Pacific MissyO = South Atlantic Bill = Indian Ocean SilverSpoon (I assume you're somewhere in Canada) = Indian Ocean (but close to Australia if you're in Nova Scotia) If you assume the earth is a perfect sphere (it isn't. Its flatter at the poles and bulges at the equator (don't we all).) all you have to do is add 180 to your longitude (subtract 360 if the result exceeds 360) and flip the latitude to south of the equator if you're above it and visa versa. |

From the earth's perspective, digging a whole through it would hurt it's feelings. And we all know that we can't hurt the earth's feelings with our evil, evil behaviour. We've gotta save it instead. Someone quickly phone Al Gore. | |

I would very likely drown as water gushed through the newly created hole quickly cooling the molten centre of the planet creating untold amount on havoc on the environment and killing the planet. |

You just need to swim your way up from the hole you've come from, survive the crushing pressures and lack of oxygen and make your way up to the top. If you make it that far then either sharks or a passing boat will pick you up. |
