| The power adapter to my PowerBook G4 Titanium fried out on me. There wasn't sparks nor smoke, just overheated. Arriving home from a hard day, I flipped open the laptop to search walmart.com to buy some electronics. Feeling tired, I turned the screen light all the way down and fell asleep. From that time the adapter failed. I woke up around 9pm to find her in sleep mode. Now, she can't wake up. I'm not sure how long she can stay this way. It's going to be well over 20 hours before she's able to get some juices flowing through her again. ![]() And I have to shell out $80 for a new adapter. f*cking Apple. ![]() PS: I named her "Katharine" Last edited by Midnight : 12-07-2006 at 03:29 AM. |

It all comes down to preference though. Personally I started on a MAC when I was around 9 years old so I know them inside/out(literally). Macintosh is truly a computer for the arts/multimedia(photography, music, video editing etc). They are incredibly easy to use, much more aesthetically pleasing too. People could argue forever on the topic, but the fact is, people should talk sh!it about the other just so they convince them to buy what they want. Ignore all the "I had a mac/pc and it crashed" bullshit. With the newer Macs being able to run both OS X and Windows, the only real difference becomes price. Figure out what you want to do, think how much you can spend, and buy. [Steve Jobbs mode]My goal it to inform. When I see misinformation being presented, especially about Mac, it is my right, nay, my duty to set the record straight.[/Steve Jobbs mode] On the real, The Mac seems to be making massive inroads lately, the IPOD may have been a blessing in disguise that woke up the sleeping giant in Steve. Apple is doing better now than they ever have in their entire history, and it's only going to get better. Yes, Apple is moving to Intel. They are doing this because Motorola, who currently makes the G4 and G5 PowerPC processors won't be able to give Apple the power they want for the future. Intel can. This also means, with time of course, that one can develop a program on a Macintosh computer, target it to run on Windows, and boom, you have a Windows application. If the new Intel-Macs can compete with Dell computers, I think we'll see a great surge in Apple marketshare. They have already attracted a lot of people with Mac OSX and Ipod, and having a computer that gives the user a choice between those OS is going to be a very good option for many. Especially when Apple retains their "it just works" mentality. Quote:

| I still like PCs for the customization purposes. Who the **** builds their own Mac with exactly what they want? Nobody...that I know. And I will never get used to that single button mouse. Too hip for me. Macs are good, but so far I haven't really experience anything on it that made it seem better than a PC. I've had Macs crash a few times before, so I don't really buy into the whole thing about it being the most reliable computer. |

Seeing how they're operated, and how it's all put together, I don't see the great benefit from it. I think it's just as good as my own pc. Just a matter of getting used to the different things, I guess. I couldn't live without my iPod, though. Thank you, Apple! |

Running Pro Tools/Digital Performer on a MAC is very much plug and play. My friend, who runs Pro Tools on a PC, everytime we'd try to record vocals/guitar on it, he'd always have the recording crash on him, for a lack of memory, and other errors. So I guess a PC would be better than a MAC if you have about 10 gigs of RAM, a few terrabytes of HD space, and some cool aerodynamic hardware to go with the customized sleekness of the PC. The new Intel Macs ARE PC's aside from one difference in how the system looks for and boots the OS. I've read alot about consumers who wanted to buy Macs but were held back sometimes because certain programs are only compatible with Windows. PS: Mac's now have a two "button" mouse. Also you could always buy another mouse and use that. The right click functionality is there, just unused. Last edited by Captain Beefheart : 12-10-2006 at 07:58 PM. |

| That still doesn't make me want to own a Mac. It's like how nothing will ever make me choose any other gaming console over Nintendo, or DC over Marvel. Okay, that's unfair, because DC kinda sucks. |

After the Gamecube they needed to deliver something special and they did. The home menu is clean. Very apple like. But what I don't like is the channel based organization. It feels unfinished and not organized. It could have at least had categories (ie: virtual console>N64/Snes/NES/Genesis and have them in a division in a more organised way. That's only sensible. Rather than have a bunch of squares that in the future will probably be cluttered when people start buying alot of games. And what about the Mii community. Nintendo could have banked off some kind of Instant messaging service from this. It's almost dumb that they didn't I mean look at the sim-like aspect of the Mii's grouping together and mingling. Imagine that with a real instant messaging service. That would be really awesome. But from my point of view Nintendo plays the role of an Amish type limiting their feature and standards to simpler minded games and accessibility. I suppose being accessible isn't bad, but it is when you sacrifice things that needn't be sacrificed. Also I have to acquaint myself with the controls. It's probably an issue with the developers and how they went about making the play mechanics. I found them annoying and was expecting more ease through learning especially in first person shooter genre. I hope Metroid can prove me wrong.
