To Be, or not to Be

Everything is changing at all times. Even in balance there's fluctuation.

The human experience is unique to us alone. We observe the physical change around us, and feel the changes within us. At all times we have a simple choice: do we wane or do we grow?

Humans, typically, have decided to expand. We've explored every part of the globe, even Antarctica. You'll find humans living in the sweltering heat to the bone chilling cold. It's through expanding and adapting to our environments that we developed culture - the very thing that makes us unique, and yes, superiour, to all other animals. All other animals can only adapt by transmitting information over generations through genes. Through culture, humans can transmit complex information instantly and on a massive scale.

Some of the information being exchanged at the moment is that the world is too overcrowded with humans. We're using too many resources, you see. And then there's global warming. That's gonna get us, too. And if they don't, we'll almost definitely destroy ourselves with nucleur weapons. If we're lucky enough not to get hit by a metor first.

So.. we can all stop having children (meaning our children will have to support the old who will out number them massively). We can all start driving our water powered cars or whatever nonsense they think of next. We can come up with a way to "prevent" global warming, ignoring the fact the climate is always changing and messing with the climate further could be just as damaging. We could all get rid of our nukes.... except it's impossible to stop everyone in the world wanting to gain power through force. And hey, if a meteor comes, we can send Bruce Willis up there with a really big drill. In other words, we can stagnate.

Or we can expand. We can reach for the stars. We can continue our destiny and come up with our crowning achievement: space travel. The unlimited potential this will unleash for our species is almost unimaginable, both internally and externally.

Are you ready to grow?

Not true. I've got no interest in being better or smarter than anyone else. Has this thread not made it mind numbingly obvious that I'm about people - all people - growing?

If I was better at something than others, I would only be interested in bringing them up to my level. That's why most people on the internet are filled with nothing but doom and gloom, while my posts are about our potential, how we can overcome those obstacles.
