But is there anything more satisfying than getting really filthy, doing some proper work and then scrubbing away the muck in the shower? Do any of you guys ever do any actual work... the sort where you get sweaty and dirty? |

| Used to work construction during summers building houses - best job I ever had from a personal satisfaction viewpoint. Remodeling my house now - doing the work myself - much more of a feeling of accomplishment at the end of a day of physical labor than than when I just get up from a desk & drive home. |

I had to drag all the cut branches to the back yard. My arms got quite dirty and I was real sweaty by the end. So I guess I was "getting dirty". It took me like 45 minutes to drag all the branches and they paid me $20 so I was like WOOT |

Not so much anymore, just for my parents which I just redid there whole garden. Probably not a smart thing to do with hurricane season on the way, but I actually like it. I used to have a small garden with tomatoes, strawberries, and corn. I dont like the getting dirty part, but your right, there is such a felling of accomplishment when a weeks work of hard work is complete. Last edited by open32 : 06-09-2006 at 08:49 PM. |

I spent about 2 weeks stripping the ancient paint off the stair rails and banister rails last year; it was disgusting but now everytime I walk up or down stairs I get pleasure of feeling the smooth wood work and knowing I did a great job. The dock work sounds tough but also like there's great camaraderie. |

It can be hard and frustrating but when it's done you have a sense of accomplishment. I had it last weekend when I spent 2 days cleaning all the junk out of the old shed. It's now empty, just got to smash out one more bench, then I can look at making it a useable area rather than just a junk storage. And there's nothing better after a day of working hard than getting into a spa for an hour or so really feeling like you earned the break. |
