Been almost 2 months

Well its been about 2 months since this new fh board has come about. What are your overall opinions on it? Im not talking about "how awsome the new board software is" or the more options at your disposal. I wanna know what your thoughts on the forums around, the atmosphere, what you like, what you hate.

Be candid, no banning will come from this.

Here is my honest thoughts. One word to discribe it is "dissapointed". Im very dissapointed in this new board. Im dissapointed with the constant arguing that is always going on somewhere on here. Im dissapointed with the lack of posting activity on most of the forums. Im dissapointed with the lack of new newbs posting. I am dissapointed with many of the regulars I talk to whom are very unhappy with this place and have left/thinking of leaving. I am dissapointed that on other fansite boards, Fanhost is the biggest laughing stock on the web as far as fansite boards go.

If its partly my fault I would like to know. I am only one person. Im only as good as my "support" is. I am no way looking for praise or as$kissing. Im just really dissapointed with how this board is anymore. I actually miss the old fh board. Im not to sure how long ill remain as admin cause it seems like nothing can get this place into a high standard Jeff/Will would like it to be.

I think its good since it seems to be a more comfortable posting board.

I fear though that there is a lack of memebers these days because guests can view these boards so they dont have to sign up. This board should be a members viewed board.

well, my biggest gripe is the layout. and it isnt just my screen settings.

why are we a laughing stock? give some examples of what they say

i prefer the old layout. this type of layout is what i have always hated on other boards (celebrity database springs to mind).

as for no newbies or people leaving, I havent noticed anything. who has left? why have they left?

and who's fighting? im very out of the loop.

disappoint.

I'll elaborate. The starlets forum is still good and i like that there is a video part of it now. I like that there is a comic forum. The whatever/men/women/politics/etc. stuff is still good.

As for celebrity forums not getting posts, that might be because of waning interest(the KK board has been bad for a while now. 2-3 years. She does nothing, so that is to blame. the kk.net hasnt been updated in well over a year and the people who originally got that thing going have been gone for like 3 years).

I like the software a lot.

I like that this is one of the only message boards where people seem to get to know each other and stay for so long.

I do hate the arguing that seems to come from such petty, pointless things. I really wish it didnt happened and dont understand how it escalates. I come on this board to post and read things and take nothing thats posted on a message board that seriously.

I cant tell if there are less newbies or less posts because I have never keep track of that before. I really cant tell.

I dont like that we lost a lot of members that never came back after we moved to the new software.

Right now though people seem to be getting along well. I think the atmosphere has really improved. I think all the whatever mods are really doing a good job.

As for people leaving, thats going to happen people are going to move on. Lately we ahve had Trine, Lobby, Winter, and Mo. I wish they would drop whatever it is and come back but im sure you can name 2 dozen people who have left that I have never heard of.

Meh, same old same old for me really, a bit more fighting than I recall before the move, but I doubt that's really much to do with the change itself. Also without Lobby and Trine the Keira board is awfully slow, but again that's not really on account of the new boards.

Lobby and the admins, Trine and the admins, I got into it a bit with Vullture not too long ago, all the crap here in Whatever, Winter mostly on that last one....

i didnt get what lobbys problem was. i dont know anything about any of that.

the white font pissed me off a lot. i would have closed every single thread that had it just for the hell of it, good topic or not. also deleting her own posts for whatever stupid reasons annoyed me.

Thats part of what started it, she was kinda asked to stop. Also that diablos was ban

Diablos starting doing the same thing and worse and I did delete 4 of his posts, he go mad at me and spammed the board with 100+ posts, so I banned him.

Now that some of this is behind us though I think it has been a much better atmosphere lately. All those ban people are unban

Thats my point, there is always something going on. Other recent things that are aggrivating a few here, including me. But im not gonna start anything here.

But it just seems like many of the regulars arnt around, posting itself is down alot.

Look, I was in new mexico for almost 3 days, not near this place once. I come back and log on here and go thru most of the fh forums, hardly anything had been posted. Sure starlets, hewitt, alba and others had lots of new replies, but the rest, nah uh. It was depressing to say the least.

Maybe others can see it, but im on here ALOT, ive gotten to know the atmosphere here well over probley most of you. Its bad lol, some closeness to fh members yes, but the fighting past/present and many other factors have made this new FH board not cool.

I have been gone for quite sometime and the first thing I noticed is that most of the forums here in culture, sports and technology aren't as active as they used to be. Most of the people that posts here regularly are the old ones. A friend of mine (Thea) once commented that people around these forums are unfriendly so that should probably account to the lack of newbies here. I also noticed that the arts and literature forum has been pretty down. I miss spin. lol

All boards go through slow times, and periods of regeneration. It's the nature of the thing.

I wouldn't pay attention to what "other fansite boards" say about fanhost. If you have quality posters and quality content, then it won't make a difference.

There's always going to be fighting on internet boards where no one is really accountable for anything they say. At least on fanhost, it's mostly confined to Whatever, in that posters who come here for the fan boards might not even notice any fighting going on.

Just concentrate on providing quality celebrity-based content, and everything else will flow from that.

Really? That's not my experience regarding the JoshH forum (btw the website will be back up within the next few weeks after being shut down and now completely redone). Here's part of a reply to a PM I send to all new members I see who aren't actually posting;

Of course I'd like to see more newbies but I'm happy that the activity and atmosphere in JH is good... we're developing a real community feel.

Does seem very quiet on the general forums though... it's weird. The L Word forum is quiet cos the series has ended, but again, we lost some regulars with the move.

Sometimes when boards go through a change like this some people see it as an opportunity to cut ties. I think we all go through phrases where we want to back away from ther evil internet and all it brings with it. I think all the bickering and snide comments a while ago didn't help. I would imagine a lot of people simply felt they didn't want to be associated with it?

I like the new board style though, I like the CP panel for viewing threads you recently posted in.

But anyway, yeah, it does seem quiet.... *watches the tumbleweed*

Will and I have both been pretty much gone. Just ask vulture, blackmask, or Janice... all of whom have sent endless PM's (sorry guys). Will sold his house, moved out, now is looking for a new house. I had a new baby and have been incredibly busy with work...as has will since we both work at the same place.

I do plan on getting into some changes here on the board soon. Yes, the avatars and user info on top should go to the left of the post. The whole name thing is messed up and I would like to get into custom layouts for the forums again. I personally believe that is why some people left or chose not to return.

There is more to come and while it seems like we have "built and left" that is not the case. After all, i have more posts in the first two months than I did the first 2+ years I have been here!!!

I honestly don't know why ppl don't post here more. there are many newbs signing up but they don't post. I think custom layouts could be a good thing. other then that I dunno...

In starlets things are the same as before, if not better.

Losing some of those members after the movie hurt. I dont know why they didnt some back. I have to say the Amanda board lost more then half, then again that could be that her movie is finished and has not been in the news at all.

Custom layouts is a very good thing.

Hey, if people are talking about FH on other forums, thats pretty much a good thing no matter what they say.

I have been busier then usualy, I have to say I have cut my time on FH by half in the last two weeks.

I think losing the post counts probably caused a few people to give up. If you are only a moderate poster that takes ages to get to a few hundred posts seeing that wiped out and you becoming a "newbie" again is a bit of a kick in the teeth and you may not bother starting over.

I know it was a transfer error and these things happen... I just think that's as much to blame than people hating the layout.

Also most of us non-hardcore fanhost people don't feel any general bad vibes. In fact I spend most of my time in the Hewitt forum and everyone couldn't be more nicey-nice. I had to start saying mean things about Britney just for the change of pace.
