So Windows 7 RC is available for download.
Anyone using it or planning to give it a try?

I've installed it on a friend's laptop and I loved it.
It's good looking like Vista and smooth like XP.

What are your thoughts about it? Like it? Don't like it?

You've said it. I have read at least two opinions of Linux users (not the "taliban" ones) and they share this point of view. It seems it's going to be a success like XP was.

Maybe I'm gonna "update" my laptop's Vista. Anyway, I don't use it...

i was going to get it but then i read all the info on it and backed out of it. i'll wait for the full read thing to come out.

here are the things that turned me off on in.

The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. **this is something i don't want to experiance**

Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you’ll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. You’ll also need to install the programs and data that you want to use. **yeah i don't feel like going through all that. i'd better wait for the real deal and not some trial run.**

Be sure to back up your data and please don't test the RC on your primary home or business PC.**yeah i already knew that so i'm not trying it**

yep i'll wait for the full real version. i don't feel like going through a hassle just for the trial run version. looks great though. now i'm hoping there's no bugs or ways for hackers to attack this new version.

If you have enough RAM, you can try a virtual Windows 7 using, for example, Virtualbox (it's free). "Enough RAM" is 1.5 - 2 GB minimum. Last versions support "Seven".

So you can keep your current OS.

I've just installed it and I like it. With that "Aero" thing turned off, it runs fast and smoothly. If I still was in Windows, I would try it.

My laptop is a cheap one: Lenovo Celeron 1730 Mhz with 1.5 GB RAM and integrated graphics (X3100).

Now that you've mentioned it, I tried it (VirtualBox) and it's so cool

For now I'm using XP to test the application but later I might go ahead and install 7.
