You must use either the component-video inputs (a trio of RCA-type plugs, marked "Y," "Pb," and "Pr") the DVI input or the HDMI input.

I have a question if anyone knows. Is one input better then the other, from cable box I have the gold RCA type plugs and for bluray the HDMI? Both boxes have ether option.

Sim, it is!

All of the cable terminations are good, since they are well plugged. In your case, you have the best RCA plug, Rory, because you have a gold one. The Gold does not oxidize and lasts forever. And worth money too.
Now, the RCA plug has only two terminations, right and left doing a stereo effect as you know. For other cables, more terminations means better transmission of image and sound. Some of HDMI cables has 32 terminations all directed to image.
