Two years ago, gals everywhere were sending their gadgets off to places like NYC Peach to get a $300 Swarovski makeover, but now their idea of bling requires a trip to the jewelry store. I recently told you about XEXOO's $10,000 customized iPod shuffle covered in pure solid 18 carat gold, and exactly a month later, I hear about another jeweler generating buzz with his latest creation: a $40,000 diamond covered iPod shuffle. Heyerdahl Jewelers calls the white and pink gold, diamond covered iPod shuffle the iDiamond. Currently the world's most expensive iPod, the iDiamond is set with a total of 430 diamonds: 312 diamonds cover the player itself, and 118 diamonds adorn the white earbuds. Judging by the picture, the player is supposed to be worn like a diamond necklace, which is odd because the iPod shuffle has a clip on the back. I'm guessing you could wear it either way, and at $40,000 you probably should wear it everyday, any way you want it. IDiamond is for sale at Heyerdahl in Norway, and will be on display in stores until October 1. http://www.heyerdahl.no/?template=master;folderid=220 iPods With a Midas Touch Fri Jul 20, 2007 7:30PM EDT From vinyl skins to crystals, the iPod has seen many customizations before, but never one so expensive. If "bling" to you means adding real diamonds and gold to your gear, then you'll love what XEXOO is doing. For a few thousand dollars—$10,000 and up to be exact—the company customizes cases for your favorite iPod in pure 18 carat gold. The high price doesn't even include the cost of the iPod itself, which means you'll have to either send in your existing one or buy a new one. According to the site, each special order includes an owner's certificate, unlimited 24-hour concierge service, and the package is securely delivered in an elegant wooden box to any part of the world. Upgrade options will soon be available, just in case you want to add a little diamond bling on the side. My question is why spend all that money on a tiny iPod shuffle, when you can bling a new iPhone? Now that I'd like to see. http://www.xexoo.com/html.html |
