| Lacey's Man Newbie | Sorting by CPU usage isn't likely to do it. Sort by MEMORY usage instead and se what's gobbling up all the RAM. Lack of RAM means the computer has to swap off to the hard drive, which is A LOT slower. It's also not uncommon for Windows to accrue a bunch of junk over the course of a year or so and require a reload of the whole thing; this becomes more likely if you have a lot of crap installed, or if you've installed and uninstalled a lot of crap (presumably demos and such). |

| Cannot live without Love ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well, I forgot I've always got a lot of free RAM. And I tend to use non-hungry operating systems. Msconfig is a good tool to get rid of those silly resident programs that fill every task bar. My Lenovo laptop booted the first time with 20 or so. That's crazy. |
