Default Give a grade to Windows Vista

Ten months have passed since the public release of MS Windows Vista. Are you satisfied with it, or have you gone back to XP? (or switched to Linux or MacOS). Give it a mark!

Well I can say that I'm happy with Vista.
It's not perfect yet like XP but all OS have their problems in the beginning.
Apart from only one problem that I'm having with my Nvidia graphics controller all the rest is working perfectly.
I have 1 gb RAM and I don't think the pc is slow even knowing that Vista uses 512mb.

It gave it a B

Ive been using it since march and have good experiences with it. The only thing I dislike is the disk defrag. Seems to take forever to do over XP. But otherwise everything works, even my nvidia drivers :p

Gets a B from me too

I chose the last option: Not using it

My computer at work is still running XP and my home computer is running Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard). The company I work for upgraded all their computers last year. I don't think they will switch to Vista until 2010.

In my opinion, the most interesting feature of Vista was WinFS file system. Once they didn't include it, I don't think it worths an upgrade. If I was a Windows user, I would keep 2000/XP.

I don't see what the purpose of Vista is yet. Is it worth it all? Just because it's new you just have to have it? The windows fade in and out... oooh. Ubuntu does the same.

WinFS looks interesting, but if its not beneficial for productivity and a person wants it because "it looks cool", there's no point in getting Vista.

XP, nothing else.

Google Picasa is an example of an app based on the same principle as WinFS file management, and I find it very productive. For example, I've got over 10000 Jennifer Love Hewitt pics. I someone asks me for "Golden Globes" appearances, I just have to type it and get the results. Looking for them "manually" would be way slower.

P.S.: I'm not using Picasa itself, but a very similar app called Digikam.

I use Picasa, and I like it. If only there was one for the mac. Maybe digikam... eh, too lazy to try.

If WinFS is how you say it is, then I see the purpose of having it. You said:

but is it included now? Does it exist as a separate entity? Perhaps able to be installed in XP?

Wikipedia says:

WinFS was billed as one of the pillars of the "Longhorn" wave of technologies, and would ship as part of the next version of Windows. It was subsequently decided that WinFS would ship after the release of Windows Vista, but those plans were shelved in June 2006, with some of its component technologies being integrated into upcoming releases of ADO.NET and Microsoft SQL Server.[3] While it was then assumed by observers that WinFS was done as a project, in November 2006 Steve Ballmer announced that WinFS was still in development, though it was not clear how the technology was to be delivered.[4]

I have a laptop at my house with Vista on it, had it for about 4 months. I dont primarily use that computer, most of the time I use XP. But I have used it a bit. No real issues. It has never froze yet, dont know how much of that is attributed to vista or the fact that its a newer better computer.

There is nothing I need to use on it that XP doesnt have. So what makes it better seems mostly cosmetic.
