i'm a sucker for the resident evil games and mostly play those. but i also like silent hill. if you want to get slightly scared then the earlier RE games are great. they'e also fun cuz they contain forms of action in them. as for SH i enjoy the creepiness of the atmosphere. the loneliness. plus the puzzles make it enjoyable. there are images in silent hill that will give you nightmares. trust me i had some. RE never gave me nightmares. but like i said RE is the one i mostly go for cuz i like the action part of it.

I would say I'm more of a Silent Hill fan. That game is an actual survival horror game, it gets at you when you least expect it. I like the fact that sometimes when you walk into an area there is absolutely no sound and you start to think something is about to happen, but it doesn't. I also like the riddles they implement into the game along side the puzzles.

I used to be a big fan of resident evil until they started to branch off of what made them famous. The zombies did start to seem kind of boring and easy to kill, but that is because there were a lot of weapons and bullets. I like it when there aren't hardly any weapons, or bullets around much like Silent Hill does it.

It's tough. I only know the Resident Evil games for the original PlayStation and they're the only games I ever played on a video game console. I loved them.

As for Silent Hill: never played it. A speedrun video I of the game that I found gave me a rather disappointing opinion on the game. The music wasn't good, the scenery lacked of variety and I found it annoying how limited the view was.
But I also read the storyline and I'm impressed by the subtle horror; surely beats the story behind RE. Especially the bad (-) ending where things turn out as in the movie "Jacob's ladder"... I mean that surely must be an impact to the gamer that didn't expect that.

I hate to say it, but the Remake of part 1 for Nintendo is scarier than the original. I watched a speedrun video of the game. Those Nintendo gamers must laugh at the PS-version, when they get to know it only after they played the remake. Like all those kiddie riddles, like with the buttons below the pictures of of people that have to ordered by their age.

But back than RE was great. The music contributed largely to the atmosphere. I recently found out the soundtrack for the European version differed from the NTSC one. I've grown a liking to the European one, as I'm used to it.

I advise you to play it
All the 4 sh's are awesome (maybe the 4th is the worst imo).
My favorite is the 3 not only because your character is a girl (and I love when we use girls in games) but also because of the connection with the story from the 1st.

See this video and you will a bit of what all SH's have to offer the players
