HELP!!!! I can't download anything!!

Since yesterday I've had this problem, but I thought I fixed it yesterday cause I got it back to working were I could download like I was always doing until yesterday. Basically I can't download any kind of file type from the internet whatsoever.

I thought it might have something to do with WinRAR since I that was the only program I couldn't use so I used McAfee & did a scan to get ready of anything if there was something to get ride of & then reinstalled WinRAR & everything was back to normal.

Now today, WinRAR did the same thing again & I did the McAfee scan yet again & decided to get rid of WinRAR altogether & now I can't download anything at all yet again.

HELP!!!!

I can tell you WinRAR can not have an effect on downloading at all.

Do you use a download manager?

As for why you cant download, a firewall setting or antivirus could block that, an IE setting or whatever browser you use, or a virus.

Try to turn off (temporarily) the firewall and restore default settings on your browser to see if that has an effect.

Thanks open. It was McAfee Firewall that was doing it. I never had it block me before cause I never messed with the settings to it. Again thanks for the help.

You really can't rely on McAfee these days. Either it's too paranoid, or it does something you think you want because they think the user is too dumb to protect itself from the internet.

As you can see, I'm not a McAfee fan. An ex-McAfee customer, actually.

In my opinion McAfee, Norton, Panda ... sucks!!!

I had to delete my norton a while back. It blocked upgrades from World of Warcraft and there was no way I could figure to stop it from blocking it.

Avira and F-Prot worked fine for me. Both are free.
