AL MVP: This one is really difficult either Dye or Quentin. No one seems to have had an "outstanding" season numbers wise. A-Rod has had a down year and he's got better numbers than Vladdy, Dye, Quentin but plays for a losing team. AL Cy Young: Cliff Lee no questions asked. Halladay has really lost sum steam at the end of the season and as great as K-Rod has been I don't think he has anything on Lee this season. NL East: Mets win the division and Phillies get the wildcard. Both NL east teams should get to the playoffs. Brewers are really struggling and Sheets' already having arm problems which is not what I'd want to hear if I was a fan. NL MVP: If going strictly on performance and leaving out the typical voter tendencies to first look at teams in contention, I would give it to Berkman by a very small margin over Pujols. NL Cy Young: Tim Lincecum. Even the voters who look at wins will have a tough time looking past the ERA and K difference between him and Webb/Sabathia. If you lead the league in almost every category and you don't win because you play on a bad team, than that's a joke. Last edited by Captain Beefheart; 09-18-2008 at 08:00 PM.. |

Howard has a .247 BA and about a billion strikeouts. A 60 HR/160 RBI season couldn't make up for that. ![]() Last edited by Captain Beefheart; 09-26-2008 at 06:29 PM.. |

Where they overrated coming into the playoffs or are the Dodgers really underrated? Do you think the mentality of playing through a pennant race for the last month gives the Dodgers and edge and would explain why so many wildcard teams do well in the playoffs? I get the sense the Cubs were in cruise control through August and September and I thought they would look less formidable than some would perceive. Offensively, they've been tepid through that stretch and the pitching has just been OK. Big Z in particular hasn't looked good at all since that no-hitter. I frankly don't understand all the extra optimism with the Cubs this year but I do think Harden will pitch a gem tommorow and give them a lifeline. | What a season for the Phillies! I went to game 1 of the NLCS and the last game of the World Series. Words cannot describe how great it was and the scene in the streets etc was beyond words. I went to the parade and surprise it was wild! Lets go Phillies! |
