Here's probably the best free kick you'll see. Roberto Carlos in a friendly against France just before WC 98.: From today's era I can only think of very few free kick "specialists" who can actually get my heart beating, mainly Juninho Pernambucano and Nakamura. Pretty much any type of kick you can think, curls, direct, folha seca("knuckle ball"). You'll notice a lot players that hit consistanty from one spot or something. For example, Ronaldinho, a great player and when the ball is at the right position (just left from the goal, from the players standpoint and a few yards from the box) he always goes for a parabola to the near post. Juninho can hit it pretty much from anywhere. ![]() Last edited by Captain Beefheart : 02-18-2008 at 07:31 PM. |

Anyways, Juninho from his Vasco days vs. River from the Libertadores: The way he usually places them into the net. It's so relaxed and measured. Although he can hit different types of freekicks, he usually doesn't need to rely on power or curve like most others. The last player who I can remember scoring regularly like that was Van Hooijdonk. ![]() Last edited by Captain Beefheart : 02-19-2008 at 03:34 AM. |

My dad is from Sao Paulo and my first memory of Brasil was going to Morumbi as a kid, and unconciously from watching games on the TV I had picked Corinthians as a team to follow HA!. Isn't it funny that the most popular clubs in Brasil are in relegation zone right now, atleast they were last time I checked(Corinthians & Flamengo). Sao Paulo's "cantera" is sort of like Europe's "bordel", they nerture kids from their teens and sell them off as commodities. Anyways. Riquelme's free kick tutorial: |
