I would venture to say everyone from Pot 1 will try to avoid Arsenal/Liverpool even with a return leg home. So Barca vs. Arsenal, Milan Vs. Liverpool, Madrid vs, Lyon, Manchester vs. Celtic, Chelsea vs. Roma, Sevilla vs. Fener, Inter vs. Olympiacos ehh? Last edited by Captain Beefheart : 12-20-2007 at 10:59 AM. |

AC Milan/Arsenal had all the makings of the finals but the gunners threw it away by fielding a carling cup side at Pizjuan. Milan in the last 5 years has only been eliminated twice(Deportivo, Barca) and lost a final(Liverpool). They haven't lost with a return leg at San Siro. Inter/Liverpool is a toss up, the reds will have to risk a lot at home if they want to advance. Madrid/Roma is another interesting fixture. This just goes to show they are paper champions until Milan and Juventus can fully recover from Moggigate. A linear, one-dimensional struggling Liverpoo coming off an upset from sum third rate team managed to make them look like fools. The Roma/Madrid tie was very deceiving, atleast the final score. Madrid dominated Roma almost the entire match and Madrid actually played their own game with fluent gameplay and controlled the tempo and pace of the game. I thought Schuster's 4-1-3-1-1 was insteresting and when Robinho comes back, i'm guessing he'll play on the right with Robben on the left, Guti as the CM and Diarra as the "5". Ramos misses the return leg so probably Torres----Pepe----Cannavaro----Heinze. Last edited by Captain Beefheart : 02-19-2008 at 07:59 PM. |

A clinic(apart from Milito's defensive lapses), but probably the best we've played all year, could've/shoui've been 2-6 but the irish lucks saved them. The midfield probably displayed their most dynamic, pressing game high up the pitch and forced Celtic to bring it which apart from isolated against the run plays couldn't really muster any chances. Cool finish by Henry on the giveaway and Messi sealed it up. Arsenal/Milan was a snoozer with evething to play at San Siro. Milan were cool under pressure and defended en masse. Shame Nesta picked up a knock because he had Abe on his pocket till he went off. The backline was rock solid. Pato really didn't have much serive and picked up a silly yellow. Kaka was marked out by Flamini and really didn't have much space. |
