Roma without Totti and the lingering 1-7 at Old Trafford. I would be surprised if they can contain ManU's buildup, if Robben was tearing Pannucci apart I can't even phantom what Cristiano could pull out against him. De Rossi and Aquilani will probably need the game of their lifes to get a favorable result. The only way I see Roma advancing is if they can get get a clean scoresheet and 2 goals. Arsenal-Liverpool: 1-1. Pressure is on Arsenal to get on early and keep it tight on the back. Liverpool will probably play their highly effective, very well organized, feeding Torres to break and wear down Arsenal's CB's. Schalke-Barcelona: 2-1. I will only watch because I wanna see how low we can go, Frank's already pretty much done for next season and there are rumors that if we lose in Germany he will step down and Guardiola will take over for the remainder of the season. When your best attacking threat is a 17 year old kid(8 goals this season, 3 in the last two games), and your defense is giving up 3 goals in the last 15 minutes to a relegation team well yeah. Fener-Chelsea: 2-2. This will be tuffer than it looks but Chelsea will bag the away goals and put them away at Stamford Beach. Last edited by Captain Beefheart : 03-31-2008 at 04:36 PM. |

| Mu nótahu ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It took a lucky bounce from Fabregas to beat Milan(6 minutes away from extra time). Arsenal with all their chances could only put Milan away on a lucky goal. What i'm saying is even tho they're a good team, they're probably the least effective to kill a match when it's needed. Arsenal's bubble was popped months ago, it actually started before Eduadro went down, but after that it only got worse, all those ties pretty much killed their season. All the free-flowing, quick, multi-pronged attacking movements seem to be gone. Abeyador has really lost his form, riverting right back to his useless grinning self. Van Persie is well, always injured so you can never count on him. Hleb is one of my favorites, but not a prolific scorer and Walcott is not seasoned enuff to really count on him yet. And he wasnt much good for Holland neither. But thats the problem as well with Chelsea they mess up when it is important, it took the carling cup defeat to give them a win over Olympiakos, and after Barsnley they trashed Derby with 6-1. They needed to be kicked and slapped around all the time to preform well and its pissing me off. The only player these days who's always giving a 110% is Joe Cole if it wasnt for him.. Even mr Lampard is too damn lazy to preform well. And the formation of Anelka & Wright Philips just doesnt work....and when is Shevie coming bk? |

| Mu nótahu ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Let's be honest, you'd wet yourself if you were within a 10 meter perimeter HAHAHA. They need to score one to tie, and two to win withouth Barca scoring at the Camp Nou. I'm ont underestimating them but it will be really difficult. And to be honest bias aside, we played like garbage. We could have sentenced the tie after the first 20 minutes and couldn't put them away for good. The second half was the usual physical meltdown where we give the ball away, can't clear any crosses, hold the possesion for more than 5 minutes and pretty much dedicate ourselfs to vertical passing without really threaning much. When you have Eto'o on the wing 40 meters out of his natural position and Henry can't break anyone down 1 vs 1 there's not much you can do but rely on "luck" and a breathtaking brilliant play(in this case Iniesta filtering a perfect pass to Henry and Bojan tapping it in). The defense is in shambles. Abidal started out great but the last month or so he's been putrid. Anyone with decent pace gets by his back and he creates a disbalance for the rest of the team. Zambrotta aka Il Stafatore is cleary counting down his days. I also glanced at the Manchester match and I thought the score was VERY misleading. Roma dominated and controlled the matched(Fergusson totally inept tactically WHAT A SURPRISE!). If Panucci has any sense of decency he would put his captain's arm band away and retire. Too bad for the gunners, they really deserved to come out with a result, it's not like I expect Liverpool to play free-flowing and "attractive" football but just hanging by with 10 behind the ball is just plain cowardice. I don't know how scoucers can look at themselves in the mirror and say "you know I really love the way we play". Arsenal as stated before are probably the least effective team in Europe. Granted the ref didn't help when he ate up a penalty on Hleb and Bendtner blocking Fabregas shot on the line. Van Persie injured his thigh again, what a surprise. If Zico manages to get Fener through they should build a platinum statue of him in Turkey. Last edited by Captain Beefheart : 04-02-2008 at 06:11 PM. | |

I think chelsea played very well the first half. The first goal was a really stupid mistake...I cant wait for czech to come back sure he could of kept one of them goals out. Anyway I cant wait for them to play chelsea at home. Because stamford bridge is gonna be singing and cheering and im sure chelsea will get them in the end |

And the second goal is a cracker from 30 yards or so out credit to the goal scorer for vindicating himself from his own goal. There are a lot of really weird tactical decisions that left me at awe. Essien at right back, instead of Belletti, changing drastically to a more conservative 4-5-1 altho it's typical to play that way after you get the away goal. I think at sum point if you're going to play Malouda/Joe Cole you must sacrifice either Ballack or Lampar. They had Fener against the ropes after the OG and they could have really capitalized but Fener held up well till the end of the half. Last edited by Captain Beefheart : 04-02-2008 at 07:12 PM. |

Zico is such a warm, gentleman, one of the biggest crimes in football history that he couldn't win a WC with Brasil(same with Cruyff with Holland) |

Even Chelsea these days are adopting and attacking philosophy. The problem with Arsenal as opposed to Liverpool is that they're so uneffective when in front of goal, you don't need to triangulate, play 1-2's all the time when a simple shot from the frontal line will do, all the tricate passing and possession doesn't mean anything if they can't score goals. Sometimes they get caught up way too much in playing beautiful which hurts them because it really prevents them from capitalizing on the final third. Hleb, despite being a phenomenal talent will never look to hit from distance. Cesc is still really not a Lampard/Gerrard when it comes to blasting one from outside the box. If I'm Wenger I probably play Walcott as a RW since Hleb and Cesc like to play throught the middle so much his speed and if he can get through and place a last ball can really dent Liverpool's back 4. It's not even about money and sucess, just yesterday in the UEFA Cup a middle table team from Spain(Getafe) which is composed mostly of loaned players(Granero, De La Red) and a bunch of veterans and outcasts gave the mercenaries from Munich a tactical bath in the second half of the game add to that playing with a makeshift defense. I don't really think there's any moral obligation to play aesthetically beautiful and pleasing, yet at the same time I wouldn't watch Liverpool. Gerrard himself is pretty exemplary of Liverpool's identity and philosophy. He isn't a marvelous, prodigious, exquisite player on the ball and more of a direct player.
