Rockies D-Backs is going to be a great series. The Rockies winning 17 out of 18 games is a slight indication that they may be hot. If it wasn't for Webb, I would expect them to run through the D-Backs as if the latter were a AAA team.
how did they finish with the best record in the nl and sweep the cubs if it is just webb?

Not to generalize but it did seem like the two large-market, high-payroll, high-expectation teams in the NL played very scared baseball, from the manager down. The Rox and DBacks had little in the way of expectations going into the season and looked looser, fresher, and more aggressive.

Coming into the season I thought the Mets even with a lackluster summer and sum key losses would run away with the NL and they did, until they collapsed with a month to go. When I saw them blow 3-0, 4-0 and 5-0 leads to the Nats on almost consecutive days, I knew the team was cooked (or at least that's what I told myself to brace for what I felt was the inevitable blow of being bounced from the playoffs). Pitching, pitching, pitching and more pitching. Top to bottom, starters to bullpen, the pitching was epically and historically bad over the last several weeks.

The Dbacks were playing in probably the worst division in the last 5 years. Everyone knew Randy was toast and the GM/franchise must have been making him a favor for 2001. Webb of course was a rock and he'd won the Cy Young the year before, so a repeat performance wasn't out of the ordinary. The rest of the rotation was full of questions marks, Livan always had the reputation as the type of pitcher who would eat alot of innings and go deep into games no matter the pitch count, which is great for the what at the time seemed like an unproven bullpen(Lyon was great as a closer two seasons ago, Juan Cruz was very valuable as a reliever after making a smooth transition as a starter, Valverde was known as a hot head, never consistent enuff till this year)

Most people would agree that this would be another transitional year until their prospects were seasoned enuff to contend. To be honest they turned out to be what experts and people knowleagable about baseball thought about the Brewers.

Props to Stephen Drew for his comming out party in the series. That's the beauty of the playoffs, you could have a mediocre year(more like horrible and being a rookie doesn't excuse him since Tulowitzki was also one), and then you have one hot week and become a hero.

Well, the good news is, there's a baseball game tomorrow. The bad news is both managers are innept at handling their clubs. Burning Chamberlain for two innings and having Rivera come into the game in the 9th in a no save situation is like taking the concord to the grocery store.

Eric Wedge shouldn't even be allowed to manage a fantasy team. Byrd is going to get eviscerated tomorrow night.

11:42. 10/7/07. YANKEE ELIMINATION DAY.

For the life of me I can't understand how there can be any Indians fans left alive after watching Borowski close games all year.

You should be a Tiger fan and watch Todd Jones close games...

Betancourt should close, his stuff isn't as electric as Zumaya's but he has better control and peripherals all around.

Alex Rodriguez ALDS: 4/15, 1 HR, 2 BB, 0 GIDP
Derek Jeter ALDS: 3/17, 0 HR, 0 XBH, 0 BB, 3 GIDP

The Jeter at SS elephant in the room continues to take massive dumps on the floor while everyone tries to pretend nothing smells. If they resign A-Rod, Posada and Rivera, Pettitte picks up his option and they hire a good young manager (Girardi is my pick, but I'm willing to be convinced otherwise), they'll be in good shape, especially with young talent in Hughes and Chamberlain.

How much did the poolside tickets used to run for?

This might be one of those series that separates the true baseball fan and the casual fan. I would expect that ratings to be some of the lowest in the history of postseason baseball. I'll be watching anyway.

Rockies in 6.

It's a good Tuesday for me. Cowboys won and the Yankees (who I dislike more for not allowing the quadruple sweep) lost. 4/15, 3/17? As expected..but at least Alex hit a home run.

3-1..Not too bad.

Rockies over D-backs
Red Sox over Indians

That's a steal no matter the location. Comerica Park for last year's Tiger playoff games was far steeper.

That's an understatement. I'll be watching when I can. Few people know much about these two west coast teams and neither has built a national following or been around long enough to establish traditions.

I hope this series goes the distance and each game is close. I like the idea of new blood and some of these players intrigue me.

The Jeter at SS elephant in the room continues to take massive dumps on the floor while everyone tries to pretend nothing smells.

Good point. He does give women vd tho doesn't he?

Rockies over D-backs
Red Sox over Indians

Don't know enough about these two NL teams to say which will win.

I'm going for Cleveland over the Sox simply because i read over the Cleveland roster and say....'who are these guys?' And that's saying something because they play my Tigers a million times a year.

Game and possibly series over. The Rockies just can't lose. Their defense is tremendous. Their only "weakness" is Atkins' limited range at 3B, which they mitigate by bringing Jamey Carroll in for the late innings.

Maybe D back fans knew what they were in for, read somewhre tickets were going for $3 (that's three US dollars...) on Stub Hub just a couple hours before game time. At that rate, the suits are going have to stock the swimming pool with topless women to keep the crowd past the fifth inning.

Good for the Rockies and their fans. This is a fun team to watch, and will be a nightmare for their opponents to play.

Byrnes was the goat of the series for the Dbacks. I loved how after every out he maintained this incredulous, defiant posture. On a pop-up earlier, he milled around at first base with his hands on his hips and an "I'm better than everyone" look on his face before finally, and slowly, making his way back to the dugout.

Poetic justice he would groundout on the last out HAHHAHAH.

The Rockies have God's blessing:

After they won last night and the owner, I believe, called Coors Field "His stadium," I became a little annoyed.

I realize two things now:

1) Insane Christians will attribute the hand of their god in the Rockies wins. As though their almighty master of masters would reach down an interfere with a few baseball games to help them smite the godless heathen masses that route against theirs. Then again, that would explain the lack of divine presence around the world during countless atrocities that happened this year. The Rockies believe that god loves baseball.

2) It's a little funny that a stadium named for a beer company is "His stadium." Proof positive that god loves the drink.
..

The sox are in a 3-1 hole and don't look like they have much resilience right now. The Cleveland crowd and team seem to want it more.

The tv network big wigs have to be crying to see the bigger market teams with the well known players go to the sidelines.

Cleveland/ Rockies series will be exciting, but no one except true fans could name a player off either roster, so rating will die.
