The Michael Vick Saga - Is killing dogs OK?

What do you guys think of this whole situation? I mean, I'm a Saints fan so I couldn't give a flying phuck about the Falcon's but..the story just keeps getting more and more interesting. This writer thinks Dog Fighting is no big deal. READ THIS Thoughts?

I'm happy Vick has been brought down and fully welcome the government going after some of the smaller fish in spite of the numerous crimes that exist against people. Why? Dog fighting isn't a crime that only affects the dogs, it has a ripple that touches many things. These dogs are often bred and sold to individuals that have no desire to properly raise and breed an animal.

Most of our society has a lack of empathy for humans and animals in general which is pretty sad. We've been trained since early childhood to dumb down emotions towards the consumption and inhumane treatment of animals. Does it make you a terrible person? No. Its unfortunately common. It' s certainly not something I can understand, condone, respect, accept, or relate to though.

It's sick & he should pay for it big time...
As many of you here know never was a fan of Vick's i thought he ws overated so in my eyes no big loss ;)

I agree Mo....I always blocked him out so I didn't get stuck with him in the fantasy draft.

It's so crazy tho.
He had all the money in the world he was love by heaps of people & he put it all in the trash just cuz he wanted to get some kicks with a crazy game in his eyes his a ******** really when you think of what his lost.

I don't think he ever took the game or his role on the team seriously enough, and it showed on the field.

It's funny that some people think that because bullfighting is toletared in Spain, the same should happen in America. Dog fighting in america is not culturally acceptable from what I understand. And saying because Bullfighting is tolerated in Spain, Dog Fighting which isn't tolerated in America, should be, is a precurious position to be standing on. It's like saying because it's acceptable to treat women as second class citizens and make them wear burkas in Saudia Arabia, it should be acceptable in the States. Sorry. Dog fighting in america is not culturally acceptable from what I understand.

Among civilized Americans it is totally unacceptable.

Among certain redneck and certain ghetto types it's a way to spend Saturday night....

Ox - I've never seen or heard of a anyone attending a dogfight, but I agree, it does seem to be more prevalent in those cultures. Apparently Vick had been doing this since college.

Just for the record, and because I am sick of hearing about it, I just want to say the general consensus in metro Atlanta is that Vick is getting what he deserves. Last night I was watching the Falcons pre-season game and I got so sick of hearing how distraught and upset the city of Atlanta is and how Vick was the future of the franchise, blah blah, blah. Of course the announcers will spin it for all its worth, but the truth is that Vick has under-performed ever since he came back from his broken leg and that if the franchise could have, without losing millions of dollars, they would have traded him this year or possibly given him this one last year to prove himself and then sent him walking. So, I think the fans are happy to have a chance at a fresh start. Just my opinion and what the majority of what I'm hearing in the media and talk radio.

The Detroit police are always breaking up dog fighting rings.

I still have a hard time believing Vick could be so stupid as to do this, esp at his own house. You would think after signing that big contract and those big endorsement deals that he would say 'see ya' to all that.....
