World Cup Finals: Italia vs. France

Sad news:

Nesta is not gonna be ready for the finals. A shame really, and ray of light for Henry, hands in the air with the little one foot stutter step with a drag, classic new wave french cinema. PHUCK DOMENECH. That won't work against Cannavaro sadly.

France will do something similar to Portugal and let Italy come to them (since they have shown more decision into attacking lately) so a chance of italian goals are very plausible. Long range shooting will test Barthez early, and most likely they will attack from the wings and keep as far away from Vieira as they can.

1-0 Italy. Set piece, Pirlo bends it, Toni drops it.

I don't know if I want Italy to win after that crappy call for Italy vs Australia. Tripping over a guy and getting a penalty kick. How stupid.

Henry's already made Cannavaro his little ***** on more than one occassion.

But France are not Arsenal.

I can't pick a winner out of the two sides. For the first time in this tournament I haven't got an incling on who is gonna take the win.

Italy - rock solid defence + goalie

France - somewhat weak attack but brilliant midfield.

Italy are not stable, if Totti, Toni/Gillardino/Inzaghi play well, Italy will win.

France depend too much on Zizou....he is the team, with all due respect to Henry, Vieira, Ribery and the rest.

my guess - Italy 1-0....with no overtime.

It's either going to be 1-0 on a mistake by Barthez or it's 0-0 and Italy is going to win it in penalties. Both teams are so stingy on defense but Barthez looks really shaky that I could see him allowing a stupid one.

Motson was like "there's been an incident off the ball, I think..", so you're expecting to see a sly dig, at most a Figo like headbutt. Then the replay comes, and in slow motion you see Zidane's goat like, Dion-Dublin-when-he-broke-his-neck-like headbutt.

Then Zizou had absolutely no reason to do that. Barbs about your mama. Accusations of your wife's infidelity. Stereotypes about your culture. It's all inconsequential in a World Cup final because if you win, it doesn't matter what anybody said, you win.

PS: First Malouda penalty was BS, and the offside goal was legal. Italy deserves the cup.

But as it went to pens, despite France being the better team I wanted Italy to win because I know the pain their fans have faced and it would have been too cruel to wish that on them.

That was a crappy the Italy won on penalty kicks. It seems like that's the only way they can win. It looked like the Italian diving team was playing soccer. I never seen so many dives.
