In 1945, the Japanese Instrument of Surrender, signed on board the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945, was the written agreement that enabled the Surrender of Japan, ending World War II. It was signed by representatives from Japan, the United States, China, the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, Australia, Canada, France, the Netherlands, and New Zealand.
