However, the new owners of the property planned to get rid of the little folk, and a sorry end in the back of a skip looked likely. Fortunately, the late collector's solicitor got in touch with the Australian Gnome Convention for advice on disposing of the ornaments, prompting "Gnome Master" David Cook to organise a rescue mission. The four-member squad, backed up by helpful locals, took four hours to load the weather-beaten gnomes - ranging from tiny fridge magnets to 1.5m "mega-gnomes" - into two vehicles and a trailer. The homeless gnomes will now be found foster homes around the Blue Mountains, although they are likely to be reunited next January for the sixth annual gathering of the Convention. The event, held in the town of Glenbrook ("the spiritual home for Australia's gnomes"), now attracts more than 1,000 gnomes each year, with some travelling from overseas to attend. Ananova, 7/30/09 |

| Think, Thought, Thorough. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Are you joking? Gnomes and a rescue mission in politics? This has to be the least interesting news I've seen. Obviously this article belongs in the trash and I bet the reporter was fired, unless he is working for a 3rd rate journalist agency... 4 hours to get some gnomes when they could have smashed them to pieces and thrown them in the trash. Who cares about a gnome convention? this is dumb. |
