lol.. AND yet another post about me. I should be flattered but at the same time it is getting slightly scary. Where did all the emotion and anger come from. I'm sure puerto rico is not such a bad country. I always imagined it was a beautiful tropical place. I wanted to talk about politics anyway, like one could a few years ago in this forum, without the crazy obsession with me. I was just reading the economist so I have lots of political ideas. If that kind of silly prejudice doesn't make you vomit on the inside then you don't have a pulse. And this isn't the first time he tries to justify his silly believes, if no one has told him before then it's pretty much up to me to make an example of him and his s!hitty views. Heck, it does not even in any major way justify this laughable stubbornness of bringing it up time and time again, it's like clashing with a dittohead about politics except that at least they have been duped by articulate and persuasive pundits. If people feel free to throw their muddled, blinded assumptions and pass them off as political correctness, that's fine with me, but i'm not not to stand aside and just let the s!hit flow, that's not how I roll. I am sorry if he can't handle being made to face his own foolishness or duplicity. I would apologize, but it's not my fault that i'm smart and that he livest in denial of his own self victimism. If Moshe spent a tiny fraction of the energy he put into his insanity about improsining a bunch of teens because he was so uproared by a video into cultivating some tiny measure of working discipline within his own mind, then he may one day learn how to engage in a real exchange of ideas. Instead, this is apparently just one of many examples of a total failure to even approach the level of engagement that makes dialogue worthwhile.

Sometimes I wonder if heavyweight philosophy, even the richly amusing prose of guys like Nietzsche, should be restricted to those who pass some sort of moderately tough reading comprehension test. Obviously I do not actually support restricting access to reading materials, but real harm is done when people lacking humility venture far beyond their depth in this field.

I've lost count of the number of individuals I've encountered who imagine themselves to be philosophically sophsticated yet in truth have only a few misinterpreted (if not also misstated) slogans to support their completely irrational (if not also hateful) worldview.I've often wondered how brits can turn lengthy hyphenated expressions into a single more compact compound word. I so dig how easily they do that, and it is a concept that seems deserving of a concise term.

I've been trying to avoid this thread but I just couldn't resist.

The justice system will handle the attackers. But what's going to be done for the victim? She might get her hospital bills paid. But this is something she will be dealing with for the rest of her life.

Don't they have a pill for that? She wouldn't necessarily forget the affair, just any emotional attachments would cease from that memory.

I side with whoever said that this isn't the worst thing that's ever happened. It would have been an entirely different situation if they filmed her rape or murder and post it online. The media coverage just adds fuel to the fire. And as for the father attempting to hold the internet sites accountable: it's a lost cause. They're provide a service, that's all. How the masses decide to use it is out of their hands. They don't tolerate violent videos and once flagged, they immediately put a stop to it ASAP. If people keep uploading it, how are they to stop it? I'm not too sure how a myspace page can be "hacked", never used it before.

Anyway. Jail is due because it fits the crime. Assault and battery, imprisonment, etc. Then, therapy should follow during jail time. That, or boot camp.

About if jail should be about rehabilitation or punishment. In this case a little bit more towards the punishment. Not only for the act but the complete contempt afterwards showing getting arrested didnt do all that much. A harsh punishment could be a good reality check. (a lot hinders on how bad this beating was, if this other girl has permanently lost some sight or hearing). 17 is old enough to deal with some consequences.

While it's good to see you try-hard, we only have so much time to spend writing on internet message boards before we die. I’d also like it if you wrote more clearly. That would be helpful. The berlusconi election has been a good thing because it’s finally finally separated italian politics into clear parties. I've been watching the telecoverage all week and for the first time saw healthy political discussion! Italians are usually the worst people in the world at having healthy political discussion! Whether or not berlusconi goes through with his fiscal conservatism, the population are starting to realise it needs to be done. It's a very similar story to france, even if sarkozy is useless, they're starting to understand that they can only get the economy back on track by cutting government spending. And of course this florida video is much more sadistic than the average crime which gets you in jail. Unless the government suddenly cut down the sentencing of all the other crimes in america, then they should go to jail. That bailing out by the mr phil show, like you said open, is a scary lack of priorities. It's $30 000 which could save non-sadistic people who are starving in poor countries. Once you've fed all those people, even if it doesn't get any publicity in this culture, then television shows can worry about saving crazy kids.
