Hey, I see you dont want it Val, this topic is really on the move, this is the 3rd forum its been moved into.

(Edit: Im going to move it into news and politics, that will be the 4th. The reaction is a bit funny but story is pretty political and probably going to involve lawsuits and stuff.)

I feel bad for Ellen. But I have no idea what the hell happened? I am a big fan of hers so I'm already admittedly biased.

I'm not biased. Ellen didn't follow the stipulations of the contract, so the dog was taken away. I don't know why she is crying over something as simple as having a dog taken away from children because, the father can always buy a puppy. The dog was probably old anyway...

Here is it. Ellen adopted an abused dog, it didnt work well with her cats so she gave it to a family with 2 young girls (12 and 13). Ellen signed a contract with the adoption agency that she couldnt give the dog away without permission from them and that the dog couldnt live with anyone under the age of 14. (stupid contract that nobody really reads)

After 2 weeks 2 ladies from the adoption agency came to the families house and snatched the dog right out of there backyard, there was arguing and cops were called. That’s why Ellen was crying, for what she put the family through by mistake.

---------------------------------------------------------

Ellen may have signed a contract but this family didnt and there the ones that got hurt. Kids dont like giving up or losing dogs. A dog is property and this is breach of contract, they can sue Ellen for a very limited amount of money. But you cant just go to someones house and take a dog out of the yard, even if somehow you did consider it stolen.

I agree with Open. You can't just come and trespass in someones yard taking a dog; just call the cops and then follow through with the procedures. The person who did that was being an ass.

The family deserved to have the dog taken away. Aparently the adoption service contacted them, and told them to come in and sign the correct papers and go through the correct procedure. However the family Ellen gave the dog to refused to cooperate, so they took the dog back. One of Ellen's represetatives also threatened the agency legally, and finacially. I think they did the right thing by taking the dog away based on the actions of Ellen & the family.

Usually the law is a dog (pets) is just considered property, like a washing machine, it even depreciates. Really you can only deal with a person who breaches a contract, you can sue them for what the property/contract breach is worth.

And like the OJ thing all over the news, you cant steel something back even if you think it was stolen or unfairly in someone elses possession. You get a court order.
