Falsely-imprisoned men lose 'living expenses' challenge

Three men who spent years in jail following miscarriages of justice will have to pay “living expenses” for the time they spent behind bars, the Law Lords ruled today.

By a four to one majority, five judges sitting at the House of Lords decided those wrongfully jailed must pay back 25 per cent of their compensation.

The case involved three victims of miscarriages of justice.

Saved them money on housing, clothing etc? not so bad if they had a choice in where they lived, what they wore, what time they went to bed, what they had to eat....yada, yada the list goes on.
