No, seriously speaking, they just want to pick you up, take you home without knowing your name. Bars/clubs are a feeding ground for pigs. Pigs being "men", that's why the drink is never really 'free'. There will be the rare guy who just wants your attention, attention from a pretty girl, but it's main purpose of that 'free' drink is to lure you in.

I wouldn't recommend accepting the free drinks, you never know if there's anything in it. Or better yet, just buy your own.

And don't go looking for guys at clubs and bars. They're all scumbags who will drop you in a second for the next girl in a skirt.

And it could mean anything, but just ask yourself, why would anyone in the 21st century spend 7 dollars on buying a drink for a stranger. Out of good will? Nah. There's an interest behind, whether it's just drowning you out and telling you his life story or the prospect of a one night stand. Lose-lose situation, unless you're the superficial type.

No. Then again, I never bought a girl a drink. I wouldn't expect something directly in return. However being generous (in the right amounts) and being friendly (also in the right amounts) can be seen as a form of investment in friends and acquaintances. That may sound awkward, but it doesn't have to be.

Maybe she didn't mean that. Maybe it's more like the following situation: a girl hangs out often with people of her large circle of friends (both guys and girls). She notices that one guy friend is being relatively generous and gets worried if he wants something from her.

hahaha beefy you poor @ss you are. I'm not asking this question like im some kind of damsel in distress or if there's only one answer to it. Im asking all of you individually. i know a lot of guys who dont expect anything (kissing or sex even) after they buy a girl a drink but i also know some who think its rude if the girl accepts the drink but doesnt give anything in return.

the real reason why i asked this, im going on holiday to spain with a friend of mine. we're calling to this place called Lloret de Mar and its the place a lot of dutch and german people go to get drunk and have unprotected sex. ( not my intention i just wanna have fun ). The friend i'm going with tho, she um how do i put this. when she has a drink, she looses her boundaries within seconds and boys can do pretty much anything to her. problem is that she doesnt see any danger. she doesnt think that if you wear a shirt that shows a lot of cleavage, boys will be staring at your breasts and not you. id thought id ask people i know all over the net to see what they think about 'free'drinks so i can proof that you really shouldnt take 5 drinks from the same guy. personally i see no harm in taking one or two drinks if youre having a fun conversation with someone. alcohol is expensive

The setting and situation is all; a friendly local bar (we call them pubs) might be fine if there are people you know but the holiday scenario you describe is all about the sex, boys there are expecting something, especially from 5 drinks worth.

Just by the question alone tells me you're pretty young. Women in their 30's and 40's know pretty much what a free drink does.

Don't mean to sound disrespectful, Samson the Cat, but that leans a little more towards "load of crap". If you're a friendly guy investing in friendship or acquaintanceship, you don't need to buy drinks after after drinks, because it's not just one drink these guys will be for miss Noble and her girlfriend. The intent is to get them loaded, not to seek friendship. And if miss Noble knows the reputation of this bar/club, the 500 pound gorilla sitting in the middle of the room is that the guys are looking to nail any girl who they can get drunk. And the chances of 1 guy buying a drink for "friendliness" is slim to none. I have better chances at flying with the power of my mind than that "friend" scenario.

(7) Reuniting Paul and Ringo with guest Paul Anka and Peter Gabriel to re-form The Beatles.

I had more, but 7 was my choice.

Pubs, on the other hand, like Jocasta mentioned, are a bit different. You can actually carry a conversation at one, even meet interesting people. It's a more breathable environment. Irish pubs are the best IMO. I've gone to one where a band plays great Irish folk music and the whole place sings along, you feel very much welcomed being in there.

Were I a woman I would be careful about accepting free anything, esp drinks.

It should be safe to accept it if you know the guy your getting it from.

Or if you order it first and some guy then offers to pay for it, in which case a smile, thank you and a kind word or two is all you need to give in order to pay him back.

Other than that...be careful!

Esp. if the guy brings you the drink! Date-Rape drugs are a big problem here....when around strangers, always hold your drink firm in your hands!

Never have. When I get one who starts hinting at it I get up and move on. A lot of women use their sexuality to get a free dinner ticket for life.

I meant that in a broader sense. Imagine a group of friends who go out to clubs, village fairs and stuff like that and there is someone who (unlike the others) never pays a round of drinks, probably because he or she doesn't believe in it - or one who never gets anyone else anything for birthday. That's a way to make oneself unpopular.

Well I would consider it to be an ice breaker. If I seen an attractive girl in a club and wanted to get to know her a bit it seems like a good way of doing it.
