What do you think about internet dating?

Just few days back my friend sent me an invitation for free dating website. It was for okcupid.com. What do you think guys? Does Internet dating really work? Shall I sign up with this website? I’m looking for your suggestions. My friend told me that he met various singles on dating website and found his match too. Well, I will look forward for your opinions and experience about internet dating.

Hey, whatever works, right? I mean I've heard of some people that have met online. Nothing wrong with it. I've personally never done it, nor would I. Not that there's anything to be ashamed about it, it's just not my type of venue.

Hey, I met my wife in the newspaper..and we've been together 13 1/2 years now. So, anything is possible.

I don't say that internet dating doesn't work, yet for me it wouldn't be an option - mainly as it's explicite aim is to find a partner. For me the beginning of a relationship must not be forced; it has to be casual, like for instance meeting a friend of a friend...

If you're shy, male and in your twenties (like moi), internet dating is a bad idea. A male:female ratio of 10:1 isn't uncommon for the younger members. Only in the age group 40+, 50+ women usually outnumber men.
