Default Racing for 3rd

F1 starts this weekend. woo hoo. Early indications are that McLaren and Ferrari are still well ahead of the pack racing for 1 & 2. Then the rest of the field is going for 3rd.

The F1s hit the track tomorrow. Race day Sunday and it's going to be HOT so that should test them in the first race of the year.

Thanks Val, I hadn't looked at the cars yet this season. Looks like Honda has spruced up their map of the world design a bit and the Toyota has a bit more red in it. Most of the others look the same...wow the Ferrari is red just for a change.

It's much the same as last year isn't it? And much the same as Williams has been for years.

The grid on Sunday will be:

1 Lewis Hamilton McLaren-Mercedes
2 Robert Kubica BMW
3 Heikki Kovalainen McLaren-Mercedes
4 Felipe Massa Ferrari
5 Nick Heidfeld BMW
6 Jarno Trulli Toyota
7 Nico Rosberg Williams-Toyota
8 David Coulthard Red Bull-Renault
9 Timo Glock Toyota
10 Sebastian Vettel STR-Ferrari
11 Rubens Barrichello Honda
12 Fernando Alonso Renault
13 Jenson Button Honda
14 Kazuki Nakajima Williams-Toyota13
15 Mark Webber Red Bull-Renault
16 Kimi Räikkönen Ferrari
17 Giancarlo Fisichella Force India-Ferrari
18 Sebastien Bourdais STR-Ferrari
20 Takuma Sato Super Aguri-Honda
21 Nelsinho Piquet Renault
22 Anthony Davidson Super Aguri-Honda

Any race where a Ferrari is in the top 10 is a good start. For those who are interested, Kimi time wise did make the first cut of qualifying but had a fuel problem and since the car stopped on the circuit he apparently couldn't continue. Looks like he also got a penalty for the repairs they'll have to do since this years rules are no changes to the car after qualifying.

On this occasion, it may be a first, it really was the car, the brake disc just disintegrated.

I love him in interviews though. He's always very quick to point out that the car isn't up to scratch so don't expect too much. It's good he has confidence and awareness of his abilities.

Yeah, yeah, yeah ...
I watched the first moments of the qualify because here in Brqazil was 2:40 AM and I was very sleep.

11 Rubens Barrichello Honda
But I'm surprised that Rubinho got the 11th!
Normally he starts in the last file.

Minutes from the race starting and it's hot out there. 37C air temp, 51C track temp. This will test the new engines....and oh no, one of the grid girls fainted in the heat.

hehehe, I'm also watching!
Heidfield are having problems with the water in his clothes. There's a little engine that automaticaly starts every time when the pilot is thirsty. Exactly now, this engine broke and can't stop.
Probably he is stew now.

22 starters, 7 finishers. Seems some of the drivers have to get used to not having their electronic traction control.

True, but normally they are due to car failure. There seemed to be a lot more in this rate due to driver error, clipping each others cars and running off the track.

I agree with you there BM, there where alot of driver errors but there just a bit rusty from the off season. I hate Hamiltion and I hope he has bad luck from here out.
