At first glance it looks like it's just somebody having a little fun with Photoshop, but this is for real: a new six-wheeled sports car from Italian automaker Covini Engineering called the C6W that they're claiming is the first of its kind. Why the extra wheels? Besides the usual macho stuff of feeling superior to all the losers with four-wheeled cars, having four wheels in the front is supposed to improve traction by reducing lift and make it easier to take corners.

It would improve traction because there's more rubber in contact with the ground. It's very close to the front wheel though so I assume it'll need it's own steering mechanisms rather than a fixed axle.

That car is crazy, six wheels. It looks pretty cool but it means you have to spend more money on tires and steering components.

How many wheel drive is it? How much power does it put down that requires it to have 6 wheels? Personally, I don't think the whole car flows too well...
