| Hardly here..... ever. ![]() ![]() | I have been into cars for most of my life, particularly BMW's and now Nissan/Infiniti. Got my first real job at a BMW dealer at the age of 17 as a valet. By the age of 21, I got an internship with the world largest automotive chain in the world as a Dealer Operations Intern (with UAG). Age 22, interned for American Honda marketing the Element to college students. Age 23 I hit the jackpot and interned for the prestigeous automotive company, BMW of North America as a Warranty Data Analyst Intern. After college briefly worked with BMW NA before moving down to a dealer level back with one of UAG's dealer as General Manager's Assistant. Recently took a position with Nissan North America as Marketing and Vehicle Operations Specialist. I'm a total car junkie. I've owned 6 cars in 8 years plus 2 company cars and expecting my 7th car on January (IT'S TAKING TOO LONG TO SHIP!!!). All cars, all the time. Last edited by Kenny; 12-01-2006 at 01:33 AM.. |

I think American cars have lost their luster and appeal to the foreign market. My current favorite car is the 2007 Jaguar XKR. I like racing games, car movies, GT races, Formula 1 races, and 24 Hours of Le Mans. |

| Server Administrator ![]() ![]() ![]() | Car guy since about 16 or so, of course. dad cant figure out why or where i figured out how to work on cars. Its just the whole speed and handleing thing that gets me. I love to race, legally only, and love to tinker with the car. I started driving on a 1988 Mazda B2200 LX King cab 5 speed. Loved that truck, I so wanted to drop it on bags, paint it and put some subs in the back....not to mention Tweed the entire inside of the truck...those were the days I left for college on a 1986 Suzuki Samurai JX. Tiny little thing but man it was fun. 15 seconds and the whole top came off and was folded up in the back. No back seat, it was useless and you had more room to just sit on the floor sideways. Had many a good times in that thing. From off road, to liquor runs in college. Miss it to this day. if they werent so rust prone id find one to daily drive right now. Then a 1993 Sentra SE-R. That was my starting point of falling in love with handleing and speed. That car was a BLAST. I met a lot of good friends though the SE-R mailing list, went to conventions(going in June to Chicago for one) and still miss it. I modded it lightly and just enjoyed driving it. Sold it with 225k and still running strong. Just was time to quit putting money in such a high mileage car, tho it ran like it was new. At the same time I got a 1993 Nissan Maxima...seeing a trend yet? I love Nissans. But these years of Maxima's were almost the best. Had a lot of sportyness, handled well for a big 4 door car....and 30mpg out of that nice v6. torquy monster of a motor. sold it after a minor fender bender, an 800 dollar car that i sold for 500....cant complain there After those I got a 1998 Nissan Altima. Its a good daily driver. 5 speed so no worries of the tranny dieing. it gets good mileage, over 30 on long trips, and it rides smooth. it is my grocery getter and what i try to drive during the week, still have it and its sitting with a bad evap control valve that i gota order next week to fix. not that it causes it to drive bad, just hate that check engine light....stupid emissions equipment And now also have a 1993 NX2000. Same car as a Sentra SE-R but with a round hatch back body. its a fun car and its setup for Auto-X on the weekends. T tops so I drive it on pretty days like today. It is too low and too stiffly sprung to really enjoy tho, stock springs are 150ft/lb springs, im running 450ft/lbs, and stock its decently stiff. Its a small car and me being a fat 6'5" its not easy to fit in...but its a total blast....7500rpm redline, some mods here and there, she scoots.... yup im a nissan guy, well 90's nissan guy. looking at my friends 85 sentra with a sr20det swapped in for my next car...he only wants like 1500 for it....thats going to be a FAST car. think 200ish hp in a car that weighs like 2000lbs . only bad thing again, fwd. I also work on cars a lot...too much, so im trying to stop. there isnt much I cant/wont do under a car Last edited by Bowlcut; 03-24-2007 at 04:40 PM.. |

I really love cars that's why I always cried to the administrators to bring back the car forum and then, Mat built this forum to us. But man ... close to you, I'm a newbie! Remember when I asked you some Pirelli tire tips in whatever forum? They are my tires until today. ![]() Good to see you here with us! |

| Senior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hello. My name is Norman. In Germany this isn't considered an old man's name. In the eighties it wasn't an uncommon name in Eastern Germany. Nevertheless I'm the only one I know with that name. I'm almost 26 years old and still don't have my college degree as I procrastinated instead of finishing my diploma thesis, but that's not the point. At 18 I got my driver's license and one almost one later after I finished school, I got the car - an 1995 Opel Vectra 1.6 - from my parents. This came in quite handy, as I was drafted for civil service (I didn't want to go to the army!) at that time and public transportation is quite sucky here. Anyway later at uni, I appreciated my car even more as it could get my away from there at the weekends. Yeah. Oh and during my internship, my car was useful as well. In all the times it didn't abandon me. Well once I tire blew on the highway (luckily had a spare tire) and another time the v-belt ripped (luckily not far from a repair shop). I'm not really a car guy - or one in theory only, meaning I like to watch reports on sports cars and technics, but I don't have a goal of owning a fast car one day - or a large one. This is mainly due to economical and ecological reasons. For me a car only serves the function of transportation. That's hopefully no blasphemy in your eyes. :uhoh: |
