Burcu Babaoglan Program in Developmental BiologyIn addition to graphic arts there are poetry and prose/short story submissions. The following is one example of the poetry. "Courage" Comes in the form of a small child Her left eye askew From tumor in her brain A smile on her face Wide as a crescent moon She says "Nice to meet you!" In her 8-year-old voice Shakes hands Waves goodbye to nurses Her mother smiles Quiet pride Standing by Daughter lies down on the bed -Not bed. More like a plank. They warn her of the coming pain Like a prince in iron mask She lets us place The plastic on her face Moulded just for her Screwed down in place The catheter no longer works We cannot flush the propofol "Can you remain awake?" She says she likes the anesthetic But it's okay We screw the mask back down To radiate her brain She cannot speak Cannot smile Can barely move And yet She holds her right thumb up To say that she's "OK" Anna Woodbury WUSM IV Source: Hippocrene |

| Perennially Disgruntled ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | "Paper Faces on Parade" Jason Hill MSTP V gets my vote for the most texturally rich, and thought provoking. Favourite is the calla lily one, but that's not realllly art, more of a great botanical photo. But they're all fabulous, thanks for posting those Fixr. |
