| Keira Mod ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | My apologizes if this has been posted before. But has anyone else heard of this Fifth book challenge? Reading fifty books in a year. Basically it's one book a week. I've decided to do it since a friend of mine said she was trying to read 100 book over the course of the summer last year and got to 80 and stopped. Anyone else care to join me? |

Actually, book challenges run rampide in the bibliophile world. New Author Challenges, Around the World challenges, Pulitzer Prize challenges...all meant to encourage reading of different things. For example http://caribousmom.blogharbor.com/bl...BookChallenges Like I said, I rarely commit although I do enjoy the October RIP Challenge because I love the exploring the spooky literary genre. | il dolce far niente ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | yes definitely! I like that post. And you should never have force yourself to finish books. What matters is you have some fun with interesting ideas & your own imagination. Our book club is going to be nice. I was going to write about pianos but have to go to bed now instead because I have to wake up at 5:45am tomorrow morning it is very unfair. |

| Newbie | Hey Keira, how is your reading going? What have you read so far? I read at least one book per week. I just LOVE to read pretty much everything. I think reading makes me a better writer too. I always try to have one fiction and one non-fiction on the go. Right now I'm reading Oprah's Pick...Awakening. A bit of a slog at this point but I am determined to finish it and I'm waiting for the AHA moments as she calls them. I'm rereading my Diana Gabaldon Outlander series just because I haven't been to the library this week. Last week I read Kathy Reich's most recent CSIish novel and also Glamour - the last of all the Louise Bagshaw books. I've read all of her novels in the past month. Tall Poppies was the best but I was really bored by the last 2 books. Same old themes, characters, and ideas revisited. I like Jodi Picoult but I find too many of hers in a row gets a bit tedious. Same with Philippa Gregory who I generally adore for historical fiction. I'd love to compare notes and share ideas. Heather |

| Newbie | Oh - for a really really good laugh and and easy read - try the Louise Rennison series (Diaries of Georgia Nicolson). I just laugh my ass off. I think these are absolutely brilliantly written from the perspective of an angst-ridden, totally self-absorbed, absolutely typical and wonderful teenage drama queen. These are laugh long and out loud little novels. Bloody brilliant stuff. |
