| ... nobody slow dances anymore. nobody takes the time to feel the grass leaves between their fingers anymore. nobody looks up and stare off into the distance anymore. When was the last time the people of Los Angeles (or any big city) has seen the Milky Way Galaxy-- the very same Galaxy they belong to with their own eyes and not in picture books but... out there? When was the last time you appreciated the rain and not run away? Or listen to silence, but I mean REAL silence! The only way city slickers can listen to this REAL silence is in a blackout when the electronic hum just... dissipates. Last edited by Avis Phlox : 11-04-2007 at 06:37 AM. |

Dunno about a pelting, though....... But when you're inside and warm and have candles lit and a cup of tea and a book, best thing in the world is a gigantic thunder storm as background music. |

| das right... (can we get some Barry White music up in here?!)I can still remember walking home from Elementary on a stormy afternoon. The sidewalks would turn gray from the rain. That cold and familiar scent all around, the sound of the tires kicking up the water as cars passed by. Even though the Sun was gone, the green leaves seemed to intensify their colour as they stood out against everything else. I had an umbrella shaped like an upside-down cup, transparent, and with a red rim. I would walk through the rain protected by this shield of tough plastic. The wind would make the drops sound as if they were pounding down fiercely. Then I drew down that shield, gripped it in my hand, and as I was being drenched in rain, I took off laughing, splashing everywhere-- didn't care who was around. But I wasn't running away, I was ..happy. For that moment, I was genuinely happy. |

My favourite smell in the world is that beautiful warm, sensual smell of those first few moments when rain falls, and it melts into that earth and they create that scent that is like the scent of the very essence of life. God I love that smell. Pure magic. |
