Default Favourite Painters

Well, have at it. Who are your favourites? I'm not a huge fan of painters, but I do like a bit of Van Gogh in small doses. That whole deep brush strokes, bright colours, mostly realistic thing works for me.

I like art that just catches my eye. Whether its a classic artist or a up and comer. I have seen Van Gogh work when they had many of his paintings on tour in L.A. several years ago. Cool stuff.

The only one I never got into is Andy Warhol.

The Impresionists particularily Jean Beraud.

Not a painting, I'm rather fond of this statue. I have a 1:12 scale reproduction in my office.

Yeah my grandad was obsessed with his schiele/klimt erotica. Still have some very sexy klimt drawings at home (god I am reduced to boasting on the internet for which i apologise). Promise to take photos of when I'm back for xmas.

Your question is too broad and silly! I hate renoir, but there is one unfinished black painting of a crying woman in the couthauld that is my favourite in all the world -- I want to stare at it forever.

You probably just need a bit of time and a nice person to take you around art galleries. Yeah I don't like painting sometimes. And then you go on the right day in the right mood with the right people and suddenly all the fuss about art makes sense. It's the most important thing in the world.

Or take a course in art history where you can view art from all over the world. I recommend this one for European art: http://www.teach12.com/ttcx/coursede...%20and%20Music
