Smile ECW show 5-20-08

ECW is on the air! "If ya smelll, YOU'RE FIRED, gimme a HELL YEAH, the entire world is watching!" Armando: "Ladies and gentlemen, in less than two weeks WWE presents One Night Stand, where every match will be contested under extreme rules. With me now are four former ECW champions, one of which will become the #1 contender for the ECW title. Quite simply, at One Night Stand, we'll have an every man for himself Fatal Four-Way Singapore Cane match. I won't make you wait until then to fight it out. Later tonight the four of you will get to show our great fans which will be the favorite at One Night Stand because we'll have a tag team match. On one side the Shaman of Sexy, John Morrison, and he teams with Chavo Guerrero, as they take on Tommy Dreamer, and his partner CM Punk." Punk holds up his MITB case as if it means anything these days, then the opening ECW music and video plays. "DON'T QUESTION MY HEART!"

The fireworks go off in Des Moines, IA! The Miz comes out to the ring with his tag belt on his shoulder as we get a replay OF Judgment Day, where Kane and Punk lost their title shot. If you saw a dork with a JBL = EPIC FAIL~! sign, that was me. Miz: "Please, I have a headache, cause two nights ago at Judgment Day I took a chokeslam on the floor. Despite the concussion, the soreness of my back, the stiff neck, and the constant headaches, I still stand here as one half of the WWE Tag Team Champions. Besides being a champion, a chick magnet, and the co-star of the top rated show on WWE.com, the Dirt Sheet, I am a competitor. So tonight, I'm going to do exactly what my tag team partner will do at One Night Stand, and that is, beat Kane."

* The Miz v. Kane

If Miz thought he had a headache before, wait 'til those pyros from Kane go off. On top of that Kane jacks him in the jaw then gives him a dropkic to the face right after the opening bell. Miz backs Kane into the corner for about half a second before Kane takes control again, then hurks him up behind his back before letting him fall on his face. Kane throws him to the corner but Miz gets a boot up. The offense is short lived though because Kane throws him over the ropes and out to the floor. Miz escapes from a possible scoop slam and shoves Kane into the ringpost. Kane winces and grabs the back of his head as the ref starts the countout, and Miz starts laying boots and forearms to his head when he gets back in after a 4 count.

Miz splashes Kane in the corner and goes for a cover but only gets one. Miz attempts to apply a chinlock but Kane gets back to his feet with relative ease and scoops him for a slam, although he's still selling his head. Whip to the corner for two clotheslines. Side slam, leg hooked, two count. Kane going outside to the top rope, jump off, and the blow connects! Kane holds up a hand to signal that it's all over, Miz staggers into the chokeslam but then fights out of it with elbows. Kane gets mad and starts laying into Miz with right hands and boots, then hangs Miz up in a tree of woe before putting a boot to his throat. Kane goes outside and keeps pulling on Miz' neck from the tree of woe and the ref calls for the bell when he won't break. MIZ WINS BY DQ. Kane gives him a chokeslam after the bell for good measure.

Kane's not done with him yet! The ref flees the ring as Kane comes back in with a steel chair. He wraps it around Miz' neck and goes to the top rope to jump on it but John Morrison runs out from the back and pulls Miz out of the ring before he can do it. Miz' music plays as Morrison drapes the tag belt over the body of his partner, who is laying limply on the ramp and has to be helped to his feet by both Morrison and a referee. A promo for Kofi Kingston v. Shelton Benjamin airs as we go to commercial break.

We come back with a shot of WWE.com as Mike Adamle thanks us all for viewing Judgment Day, and he says it was a "special special night." I admit it was special to be close enough to ringside for Adamle to hear me yell out that he COMPLETELY SUCKS. Kofi Kingston makes his way down to the ring to the strains of S.O.S. as Tazz tells a knock knock joke with "JAMAICAN ME CRAZY" as the punchline. That Cthulhu damned phrase is going to end up on a Kofi Kingston shirt before long.

* Shelton 'Gold Standard' Benjamin v. Kofi 'Jamaican Me Crazy' Kingston

The bell rings and Kofi assumes his whacky arms out stance, Benjamin charges in, ducks under and shoves him to the corner until the ref calls for the clean break. Benjamin clubs his back, decks him with knees and punches along the ropes, attempts to whip him off the ropes and toss him high in the air but Kofi responds with a kick and jumps to the top of his head. Benjamin takes control again though and drops his knee right into the top turnbuckle - which looked like it would LEGIT hurt. Benjamin makes sure to drive the point home by posting the knee into the turnbuckle and then aiming kicks at the knee, then grounding Kofi so he can grab the foot and twist. Kofi escapes and hobbles to his feet but Benjamin kicks him in the gut.

Kofi forgets to sell and starts using the leg for kicks, until he counters out of a move and crawls away again selling that he can't stand... except he stands long enough for an elevated dropkick for a two count. Benjamin counters the BO! BO! BO! double legdrop by catching Kofi in mid-air and rolling him up with a schoolboy for two. Benjamin goes for a splash in the corner but Kofi gets out of the way. Kofi goes for the Jamaican Buzzsaw but Benjamin ducks under it. Benjamin turns Kofi horizontal and slams him down face first then flips him over to get the pin and break Kofi's winning streak. WINNER: SHELTON BENJAMIN. Pretty good match - the crowd was into Kofi and was cheering for his comebacks, but the Gold Standard finally got the better of him tonight. He stands on the rampway staring at his opponent with a cocky grin as a promo for the WrestleMania 24 DVD set airs.

* Colin Delaney & Kelly Kelly v. Layla & Mike Knox

Apparently we've got a mixed tag team match! Colin's music plays instead of Kelly's, but Kelly is clearly stealing the show in her all silver smokin' hot ring attire. We see a replay of Armando Estrada beating up Colin two weeks ago before he managed to slide under him and roll Estrada up for the pin and to win his ECW contract. Kelly and Layla are the two who start this mixed tag match. Layla tries to throw Kelly out but Kelly holds on and then head scissors Layla out! Kelly jumps up to the second rope and hits a crossbody for a near fall but Knox pulls her off and then throws Delaney away, literally high through the air to the floor outside. Kelly Kelly hits her K2 finisher on Layla while Knox pursues Delaney on the outside. WINNERS: KELLY & DELANEY. Mike Knox DOES THE KNOX to Delaney in the ring.

Armando Estrada comes out to the ring in his piehat and vest. He tells the ref it's an official match and to ring the bell.

* Colin Delaney v. Armando Estrada

Armando picks him upwith ease and slams him down hard flat on his back, covering the kid for three. WINNER: ARMANDO ESTRADA. He stands over the prone Delaney flexing his muscles and showing off his ripped abs. Kelly checks on the prone Knox with concern as we go to a video package with highlights from Judgment Day, including the main event steel cage match, before going to a commercial break. When we come back from break it's time for a RAW REBOUND. As you're no doubt aware by now, the real reason Regal lost the "loser gets fired" match with Kennedy last night was to get him off TV because he's suspended for no less than sixty days. Bloody shame that. Adamle and Tazz run down the card afterwards, including the just added Singapore Cane match, where the winner will face the ECW Champion at the upcoming Night of Champions PPV. CM Punk's music hits and our ring announcer says this is a "Former ECW Champions Tag Team Match." Punk charges out with his briefcase and poses with it (what a useless piece of **** that briefcase is now) before Tommy Dreamer's music hits.

* Tommy Dreamer & CM Punk v. John Morrison & Chavo Guerrero (One Night Stand preview)

We'll get this match after THESE commercial messages... and we're back! Morrison and Dreamer are the two who start us off when the bell rings. Dreamer gets him in a side headlock then comes off the ropes with a shoulder tackle, before picking Morrison up to flapjack him then hitting an armdrag when Morrison charges. A surprisingly loud "LET'S GO DREAMER" chant breaks out. Chavo tags in and he and Morrison bonk into each other. Dreamer scoop slams Chavo after Punk makes the tag and he jumps over the ropes to nail him, then hits a delayed vertical suplex on Chavo and covers him for two. Backbreaker by Punk for another near fall. Punk gets waylaid in the corner for a second when Morrison comes in off a tag, gets the advantage back, then Chavo and Morrison cut off the ring to work him over. Chavo tries to charge him and gets a forearm to the face before being tossed between the second and third rope, then Punk dives OVER the ropes to splash Morrison. When Punk tries to throw Chavo back in and follow up Morrison gives him an electric chair to the floor, which leads to another commercial break.

And we're back with Morrison stretching out Punk's arms behind his back as the crowd in Des Moines is chanting for the Money With No Bank Champion. Russian leg sweep takes down Punk hard before Chavo tags in and hurdles over the ropes to land on Punk's sternum. Chavo continues the assault, landing blows to the head, yanking on a handful of his hair, then isolating his left arm in an armbar before applying a chinlock. Punk gets back to his feet and punches out but Chavo sweeps the leg and gets him down again, then drags him over to their corner to tag in Morrison. Morrison stomps on his head (Tazz calls it a "ghetto like stomp" - I guess he saw some like that in Red Hook) before a cover. Chavo back in and the ref warns him not to grab the hair. Chavo hits a dropkick to the head then waits for Punk to stand, but that's a mistake since Punk hits a high round kick. Chavo tags out before Punk can crawl to Dreamer for a tag and Morrison catches him.

Before Morrison can do much damage, Punk catches him with a bulldog and both men are left laying. Punk crawls to his corner for a tag before Morrison can stomp him and Dreamer comes in a house of fire. Pump handle suplex for a two count. Dreamer misses a splash in the corner, but Morrison misses a springboard off the ropes. Dreamer hits Morrison with a DDT but Chavo jumps on him to break up the three count. Punk clears Chavo out, carrying them both over the top rope with his momentum. Dreamer sets up the tree of woe for the ECW dropkick but Morrison sits up to avoid it and simultaneously tags Chavo. Chavo hits the frogsplash and covers Dreamer for three. WINNERS: CHAVO & MORRISON.

Big Show's music hits! Morrison and Chavo attempt to doubleteam him and both get shoved away with ease. Show gives Chavo a chokeslam, then gives Punk a chokeslam, then wraps an arm around Morrison's neck before tossing him away like a ragdoll. Show takes the mic. "You know, I think our ECW General Manager forgot the fact I was a former ECW Champion. So that's why I'm putting myself in the Singapore Cane match. You see, I was a former champion, and I will be the FUTURE champion." Show's music hits again. Dreamer slowly crawls to his feet, Show at first appears to be showing him respect and not attacking him, then Show wraps a hand around his neck and chokeslams him too. Show walks away with as we get a video replay of him destroying everybody that was in the match, winners and losers alike. He stands at the top of the ramp as Adamle says "we will NEVER, FORGET, AGAIN." That's how ECW ends!
