Bothering to vote is irrational, unless you happen to particularly enjoy the feeling. Voting might be collectively rational, but that is on the macro level. It is individually irrational. Game-theory is fun.
ANother thing I find strange is how we're supposed to encourage young and uneducated people to vote. How embarrassing that obama is still in the race.
