Thanks for the hints, Captain. I'm working with Linux since 2001, and now have installed Debian on my desktop PC and my file server.
Because this laptop is pretty new, Debian stable was no suitable (too old packages), so I was going to install unstable when I thought "What about Ubuntu? Let's have a look".
Weird things have started to happen when my desktop has died and I've been forced to work with this laptop more frecuently.
IE, the console. It's hard to explain: it seems it's late for every command. When I make a directory called "foo", it succeeds, but tells me something like "impossible to make foo, it exists yet". When I do apt-getting, it often fails because it's occuped.
I guess I'm gonna switch to Debian unstable. |
