.art is a image file format from America Online. IE used to be able to view .art images but that's no longer the case.

It's been a long long long time since I've used AOL, like back in 1998, but I've looked at some links and apparently you can turn off the "image compression" feature. It's there for bandwidth purposes so the pages load faster since the .art compression makes the images a much lower quality.

To convert your ART files into JPG files: I pulled this info off this site, see if this works for you:
Quote:
Start up the AOL software, pull down the "File" menu, pick "Open File," and select your ART file. Then pick "Save" in the image editor that appeared when you opened the ART file. Pulld own the "Save as type:" menu at the bottom of the "Save Graphic As" dialog box and select "JPEG Files (*.jpg)". Then click "Save" to create a JPEG format version of your image.
As for turning off the "image compression" feature, try this. If that doesn't work, contact AOL Support as a last resort.

Good luck.
